She is now on her passage on the River Ems to Eemshaven in the Netherlands, from where she will have her Seatrials. If you like to see photos of the Jewel while leyving the shipyard and on the River Ems you can click on the link below in my profile.

Globaliser I´m sorry for you as you you really missed a great event. It must be dissapointing taking such efforts like booking a flight and then missing it just for a few hours.

It was really exciting they started the first try arounf 2:00am and had to stop again. Everything looked like they wouldn´t make it again. I don´t know what was the issue. Finally at 3:00am they blew the Horn and started to pass the dock locks, playin "Time to say Goodbye" from the ship. I can tell you it was breathtaking. I was able to stand just few meters away from the ship almost able to reach her. Although it started raining several hundreds of people stayed to watch her.

Hope you get a slight feeling from the pics.

All I can say is 'oh my goodness'. You guys need to quite. My cruise isn't until December 2004 and I am having such a hard time trying to keep it together. I'm ready to go now.

Great pictures madforcruising. I can't wait to get on board. Please keep us posted on the progress of the Jewel. Thank you.

I always knew it was going to be a gamble, but this is a great consolation prize. Thank you again.

BTW, there is another set of photos from later in the transfer on this page. It looks like these were taken beyond the Ems flood barrier. The shipyard's press release has a few small photos as well.

Globaliser,

Thanks for that link to the daylight river passage pictures. I was hoping to see her in the daylight. In 77 days I will be taking my own pictures of her. Can't wait.

One more link - this time with pictures taken from onboard the ship! It looks like there are only the low-res thumbnails on that page, but it's a good first glimpse at the real thing.

I can't find any webcams at Eemshaven, but this page is the port's shipping information page. It looks like Jewel is going out on her first sea trial at 2100 tonight (Monday 5 April). The port seems to have her nationality wrong - she's clearly got Nassau painted on her aft end!

Brush up your German, everyone! As you can imagine, the transfer caused a lot of press interest and comment. If you can persevere with the translation tool, there are some interesting nuggets in here, plus a few photos of varying qualities. The best nugget is at the end. Most links run through *****.com. I've tried to keep out duplications, and all these translations of titles are very approximate! icon_smile.gif
