Seafood Pictured in Brochure

Recommended Posts

I have this annoying habit of flipping through the cruiseline brochures and saying "I want that!" ... so now I'm here to ask if it's possible! :)

One of the Princess brochures has a photo of four people on a balcony. Pictured is a large seafood/lobster platter (including lobster claws, not just those silly tails), what looks to be a cheese and crackers platter, and another one I can't recall at the moment (shrimp cocktails, maybe?!).

I thought it might have been the Ultimate Balcony Dining, but from the descriptions I have been reading for that, it doesn't quite seem to fit (especially since there is no staff/waiter pictured). Is it just something one orders from room service (at additional cost, I assume)? I've tried searching for it, but as I don't exactly know what it might be called, I haven't had much success.

Any information/links any one can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Claws are not part of the UBD and not available from room service as far as I know, so it was probably brought down from the Seafood Sailaway dinner in the HC. :)

I only remember claws being available in the dining room on one occasion. Sorry.

The thing to keep in mind about brochures is: they're always doctored to some degree. Designers & graphic artists put them together, sometimes without regard to certain facts or what's actually available. (check out the pictures of Princess's ships - now look at the bow. Where's the anchors?! Airbrushed out!)

That's why I thought I'd ask. I try not to take it all seriously and figured it was jsut a sort of sale ploy... but it all looks so pretty! :P

You can order appetizers platters at an extra cost. I don't know about lobster but we have enjoyed the shrimp on ice bowl on a couple of occasions.

I've also noticed that whenever they have a picture of a balcony, it's usually 10 x 10 feet, with nice Teak floors and Redwood loungers with fluffy cushions. While I have never been in the President's Suite (so I can't comment on the balcony furniture there) the stuff I HAVE seen is usually plastic.

Hey.... There's a thought... With my next Balcony Cabin, I should request the fancy wooden furniture that they have in the brochures. Ya think I'll get it?

hehehehehe

Never mind requesting the fancy wooden furniture - I'd request the always good looking, well dressed gentleman that is pictured!!!

That is because, most of the pictures in the Ads are of full suites and full suite balconys. Yes, the full suites do have the beautiful balcony furniture and lots of space. Can you only imagine how many people would be excited about their first cruise if they advertised an inside stateroom in those pics? Or manybe a balcony stateroom on a Sun Class ship with those tiny little cut out balconys? :)

Awww, we had a Caribbe balcony on the Dawn. It wasn't that bad!

We've had full suites a few times and still can't get lobster claw, although you can get some great shrimp cocktails and app platters. My favorite is the guacamole platter (available at a extra fee, of course) from the usual apps offering. We haven't doen any Caribbean cruising, so that might be the difference in the lobster claws which I haven't seen on any of our cruises to date.

Suites do have nice teak furniture though! If you really want to be spoiled, for an OS aft on the Tahitian or Pacific!

Do you think the couple brought back the plate from the Seafood Buffet to enjoy on their balcony?

We have brought back a slice of pizza, fruit, snack to our cabin and quietly ate on our balcony.
