wolfgang36 Posted August 20, 2008 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2008 After having a horrible experience on Mariner in October a couple of years ago and swearing we would never go back, we are considering RCI for our upcoming anniversary cruise. This will be our 11th sailing on Royal. Our C & A records are all screwed up and they only show nine cruises. (They even have one on there that we did not take!) Anyway, they found two others but still insist that we have only nine. They have asked that we send a receipt or photo of us on the sailing in dispute to prove that we were there. For crying out loud! Have any of you had this problem and how did you resolve it? I do not know why I am surprised that their cheap liquor in the concierge lounge is more valuable than a loyal customer.
Gonzo70 Posted August 20, 2008 #2 Share Posted August 20, 2008 I would call the credit card company for the credit card you used during the "missing" cruise and see if they can print out a copy of your statement from that month. If they are able to do this that would solve the problem in a matter of minutes. Good luck.

I had sailed back in the 70's on Song of America and Song of Norway and had to send a picture of embarkation I had to prove we sailed. Are you suggesting they just believe everyone who tells them they have cruised? We would surely have a whole lot more Diamond Plus members if they did. wolfgang36 Posted August 20, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Thanks, Gonzo, we tried looking up our credit card records online but it did not go back that far. We will try calling. Our other possible cruise will be on Noordam. You have done both Jewel and Noordam. How do they compare?

Our other possible cruise will be on Noordam. You have done both Jewel and Noordam. How do they compare? My Jewel one is an upcoming cruise. I did enjoy the Noordam, but I personally prefer Roayl Caribbean to HAL. My wife and I are in our 30s so there is just more geared towards our age group on Royal Caribbean. The Noordam was a beautiful ship though and very friendly staff.

wolfgang36 Posted August 20, 2008 Author #9 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Aurelius, that is exactly my thought. The record keeping problem is theirs. I should not have to jump through hoops to remain a satisfied customer.

Everyone is asked to do the same thing. They are not singling you out at all. Perhaps this really is not the right cruiseline for you.....? temple1 Posted August 20, 2008 #12 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Well, I guess I'll get the cheerleading taunt thrown at me, had worse though. The Crown and Anchor Society is special incentive program given to encourage return passengers. They can discontinue the program at anytime. It is not absolutely stated on the website, but I look at it as my responsibility to ensure my cruise history is accurate. From my understanding (not being in the exalted ;) Diamond status) that there are plenty of other perks available other than cheap boose in the lounge. gary2835 Posted August 20, 2008 #13 Share Posted August 20, 2008 It is a good idea to keep all the cruise documents that RC sends you in the mail. We have all ours on the book shelf. In the first few pages they list your C&A number and status, reservation number, dates, cabin, and itinerary. I hope that would be all they need, but who knows. Good luck in your attempt. SPARKLE10 Posted August 20, 2008 #14 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Hi: We're Diamond members with RCCL, but they do not have our records from 23 years ago; and our TA doesn't have them either. I really think we have enough credits (cruises) to be Diamond Plus. When I inquired what proof i would need, they said to fax them anything with the dates, pictures, room keys that I could find to show that I was actually on that cruise. I even have names and addresses, back when they used to do that; give you the list of all the passengers in a book. Since I'll be on the IOS in two weeks, I'm just bringing the proof with me, to show them on our Independence sailing. Just two weeks to go; getting very excited for our first Med. cruise. Happy Cruising....Sparkle 10 (Anita):p

Our other possible cruise will be on Noordam. You have done both Jewel and Noordam. How do they compare? IMO, just looking at ship (and not itinerary or other factor), Noordam wins hands down. I'm not a huge HAL fan, but Noordam is my favorite ship ever. I like the aft pool deck, the thermal suite, Explorations Cafe and library, and the staterooms are very nice. Best of luck either way. ORANGEinINDY Posted August 20, 2008 #16 Share Posted August 20, 2008 I am pretty sure i still have all my seapass cards... would that count? And I for sure have tons of photos, a pic from the cruise seems like a small thing to ask for (and generous on RCI's part)

And the disco is smaller than my bedroom. I prefer RCI over HAL and I'm in my mid 50's. I may sail with HAL again in twenty or so years. cruisePRN Posted August 20, 2008 #18 Share Posted August 20, 2008 Or they could keep better records in the first place. ;) I'm no RCL cheerleader but it is unreasonable to expect them to have records from 32 years ago before they even had a loyalty program. glendon3281 Posted August 20, 2008 #20 Share Posted August 20, 2008 I am pretty sure i still have all my seapass cards... would that count? I remember reading a few years ago about RC not keeping accurate records, so I have since kept all my SeaPasses just in case. I have a 'travel' drawer set aside for past, present and future trip info and just keep the old SeaPasses there with a rubberband tied around them. They don't take up much room but I have them to "prove" I cruised, if need be.

tally10 Posted August 20, 2008 #24 Share Posted August 20, 2008 We had the same problem with another cruise line. We are sailing with Carnival in 2 months and to get the past cruiser discount, we had to do the same thing. Our kids are grown now but we found a photo in a Carnival jacket that shows us disembarking in St. Maartin in front of the Carnival "Welcome to St. Maartin" sign with the date showing and the Carnival symbol, AND that was not considered enough proof for them. I think we got the "senior" discount instead. I realize that records don't go back to the '80's, but what more proof do you need? We had no trouble with RCCL and the Sun Viking from years ago. One more cruise and we are diamond with RCCL.
