Ideas with 4 ships in port

There will be 4 ships in STT when we're there, 2 at Havensight/2 at Crown Bay. Best thing to avoid crowds would be private snorkeling excursion but we're not into that. I've read the websites of tour guides like Sunny Liston, Godfrey, etc. and they all go to Sapphire, Megans or Coki, which will probably be packed that day. Papa Bear will take people to different beaches but he's all booked up. If we wanted to take a taxi to another beach like Morning Star, how are the taxis marked so we know they are safe and legitimate? Would the driver pick us up again or is it best to go to the hotel lobby and ask them to call a taxi? The paradise tram is another option, is it worth the money if we don't want to eat up there? Appreciate your suggestions.

Magens, Sapphire and Coki are the most popular beaches for cruise passengers. You can head to one of the other beaches by taxi. There is a taxi stand right in Havensight shopping area.

At Morningstar there is a taxi stand right outside the hotel lobby; if there isn't a taxi or two waiting around you can ask someone at the lobby to call one for you.

Licensed taxi vehicles are labeled with: a taxi placard or dome light on the roof, license plates that indicate Taxi status, On Duty/Off Duty sign in the window of the vehicle and a sign, usually on the fender, indicating passenger capacity. The drivers personal identification/taxi license should be on the vehicles dash board.

Yes you can take a taxi to Blackbeards Castle and get dropped off there. You'd pay the admission at the gate and decide between the guided tour if have one leaving or you can do self-guided. You'd see the tower, a great view of the harbor, a few historical homes that you can enter and some not part of the tour but are in the same area that you can look at from outside. Lots of pirate statues too to look at. You can swim in their pool. There is restroom you can change in. When you are ready to leave you could walk down the 99 steps to town, if interested in lunch or shopping down there and grab a taxi from the taxi stand by Vendors Plaza. Otherwise you can exit the same gate you entered and there may be a taxi or two there waiting, if not ask the folks at Blackbeards to call one for you.

Thanks for your help. Maybe we'll do that then. Do you think it would be somewhat redundant to take the tram to paradise point as well if we've just had a "view" at Blackbeards? Do you happen to know what it would cost to walk around Blackbeards and swim in the pool? I don't see the price on their website.

  • 2 weeks later...

Only 4 ships?? That is a small number of ships that day.

Where are you scheduled to dock?? Crown Bay or Havensight??

If you aren't going to eat at the top -- it really isn't worth the ride -- I priced a few items up there and they were more expensive than in the shops at Havensight. View is great.
