workn2cruise Posted November 1, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2004 Besides the obvious (Disney). We're (DH, Me and a friend) in town the night before our cruise and wanted to do something fun, get some good food. Any spots we shouldn't miss? Places we should avoid? Thanks! Boston6 Posted November 1, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2004 How about going to Cirque du Solei? (sp?)
KarlaC Posted November 1, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 1, 2004 Why not head over to the Disney Marketplace. They have a lot of good restaurants and there is always Pleasure Island at night
GoinCruisin Posted November 1, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 1, 2004 Cirque de Soleil is a must! Tix are pricey but WELL worth it! Also, if you have never been, go to Medeival Times! I try to go every time I am in a city that has one... always a fun time! Any place that welcomes you calling the bar maids "wenches", allows you to eat with your fingers and serves "grog"... can't go wrong, LOL... There are so many things to do, you won't be bored!!!! Have fun!
ParrotHeadFL Posted November 1, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 1, 2004 I'll second the recommendations for Cirque. An absolutely fabulous show, and definitely worth the money. Downtown Disney also has some wonderful places to eat.
virginia600 Posted November 2, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 2, 2004 Try Emeril's at CityWalk. Great place to eat! It is by Universal. Susan
Teamlegaleagles Posted November 2, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 2, 2004 I live in Orlando and work for Universal. I am assuming that you are here for one night and are staying in the attractions area (Universal, I Drive, or Disney). Cirque at Downtown Disney is a great show. Here is a link for tix: http://www.omniticket.net/cds/ Emeril's at CityWalk is my favorite restaurant in town. It is expensive, but worth the money. The number is 407-224-2400. Emeril's Tchop Chop is at the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal. It is slightly less expensive and also very good. The number is 407-503-2467. If you are a Parrot Head, Margaritaville at CityWalk is awesome. Another interesting choice is Seasons 52 which is a new restaurant concept by the company that owns Red Lobster, Olive Garden and Bahama Breeze. It is on Sand Lake Road near Universal and is an upscale restaurant focusing on fresh, seasonal ingrediants and offers many healthy choices. The number is 407-354-5212. Finally, for less expensive dining, I really like Cafe Tu Tu Tango on International Drive. An all-appitizer menu in a very funky environment. If Dean is there, make sure to have your Tarot cards read; he is very good. The number is 407-248-2222. I am not as familiar with the Downtown Disney restaurants. I know that there is a Wolfgang Pucks and a House of Blues. For night life, I am biased towards CityWalk at Universal over Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island. Go to Universalorlando.com and click on nightlife.
blueyz28 Posted November 2, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 2, 2004 The House of Blues is pretty good. I'm partial to CitiWalk myself. I LOVE Emeril's! Well worth the $$$. Be sure to grab a Havanas and Bananas @ Margaritaville (and the Cheeseburgers are pretty good too) and a Hurricane @ Pat O'Briens! If you are there at night, there is usually some outdoor entertainment and a huge movie theater, if you are in the mood.
kathy7558 Posted November 3, 2004 #9 Share Posted November 3, 2004 I have to put in a second (or third or fourth) for City Walk at Universal. :D If you're going just for the evening, here's a tip - go ahead and park in the valet parking and have your restuarant "validate" your parking. We paid no more for valet parking with the validation than it would have been for the parking garage, and the valet parking is just below City Walk.
