First Day Disappointment Dawn 10/12-10/19

My wife and I returned home today from a 7 day cruise on the Dawn to Bermuda 12th to 19th. With the exception of ONE thing the cruise was great; I will review it in the days to come.

On the first night after diner we went to the casino, my wife had her camera with her. She put in between the slots, she was sitting in the back corner by the restroom playing the two cent slots. When she cashed out she forgot it. When she returned it was gone. We checked with the casino desk and hoping it was return at the main desk I went there with no luck.

I sent this to the person(s) that have the camera, please find it in your heart and do the right thing and return it to me.

Email me at bigfoot693588@yahoo.com and arrangement can be made to ship it to me COD, NO QUESTIONS ASKED and no expense to you.

Thank You

how sad, and I have another story to tell that had a happy ending, we were on the Old Sea just before she was retired or moved..Just outside the casino our friend found 60.00 just laying on the floor. She took it to the purser and sure enough someone had reported it missing. Our friend felt good that she was able to return it and I am sure the person who had lost it was not only surprised but very happy she got her money back. What are the chances?

We had a similar thing happen just a few weeks ago. We had been at a Homewood Suites in Texas for our granddaughters wedding and when we got home my jewelry was missing. I don't wear a lot but I did have 2 pair of Saphire ear rings, a saphire pendent and a few other pieces that had sentimental value with me. Sure enough we called the hotel and it had been turned in... Now my jewelry and I are together again

On a cruise a few years ago, I left my pocketbook hanging on the chair in the Dining Room -- on the day of Disembarkation!! Didn't realize I didn't have it for 20-30 minutes. By the time I got back to the Dining Room, it was gone. I was in a Really Panicky state by then, and then they Paged my name. An honest person had turned it in, intact - no $$ or anything else missing.

So sorry you lost your camera...

How horrible!

I can't understand how anyone would have such a lack of concience and respect for other people and their property to do such a thing.

I sincerely hope this unfortunate incident didn't have such a long lasting effect as to put a damper on the rest of your cruise and I hope by some miracle you get your camera back.

My lady friend Mary Lou and I just returned from the Dawn today.

Yesterday, on the last day, Mary Lou had done some shopping in the galleria shops. She walks with a cane and was carrying a lot of packages when she discovered that her little purse was missing. She retraced her steps to no avail. When she checked at the pursers desk to see if anyone had found it, she was told that some honest person had already turned it in. All contents were intact and Mary Lou wanted to know who this person was, as she wanted to give a reward to this individual. They would not divulge this information to her.

Our wonderful cruise ended on a lovely note, thanks to some honest passenger on the October 12th cruise on the Norwegian Dawn.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for this. May God bless you!!

I have two stories. One really good one REALLY bad.

The good: A father of a family dropped his wallet outside the pier. We got a phone call on the ship from a man who found it, and wanted to contact the guest because they would be worried. We said we can't give out his number but will call his cabin. The man returned the wallet to the ship with all $7,000 in cash in it.

Sad Sad SAD story:

A young woman ran up to the reception desk and talked to me crying buckets. It was her honeymoon and they had the wedding the day before the cruise. They were on a very low budget so they decided to take all the wedding pics with their digital camera. Well the young lady decided to leave the camera on the Wal-Mart shuttle as she went in to shop. Someone took it from the bus or she just left it once she returned to the ship but the shuttle company didn't have it and we didn't have it. She lost all her wedding pictures and honeymoon pictures. She was crying and asking for us to page the entire ship but we can't do that. I felt really sorry for her but then wondered why she would of purposely left it on a shuttle while she shopped.

My DH left a brand new sony macvica camera at the table in the buffet on the Grand Princess a few years ago. We got back to our cabin before we realized we didn't have it. We went back to the buffet immediately and it was gone. We then went to the pursers desk to report it missing and it had already been turned in by the crew member who cleaned the table! What a relief to get it back. Last year in a shop in the French Quarter of New Orleans I found a camera on a stack of t shirts and gave it to the store clerk who looked like he could care less but at least would get a new camera out of the deal. A man walked in and was kinda of looking around and I said did you lose something and he said yes my camera and I said I just handed it to the clerk, I found it laying over there on a stack of t shirts, so he did end up getting it back. I don't think he would have if he hadn't come right back while I was still in there. Lisa

Yesterday at the State Fair of Texas I accidentally dropped cash from my pocket. The lady behind me pointed it out. There are still many honest people in the world. I consider myself to be in that group.

I am lax in labelling my posessions with my contact information though...

My friend works for DFW airport and it is mind-boggling the stuff they find (on the planes and in the airport). They have sales a few times a year for unclaimed property. That includes laptops, cameras, phones, etc.

But with all the honest people, in public I trust no one.

This is an old story, but still a good one.

We were on a trip to Disney World with our kids who were 10 and 4 at the time. We were actually traveling with a group from our local town. Many church's and community groups were involved so there was no way that we knew everyone.

We found a very nice camera and turned it into lost and found at the park. I asked what they would do with the camera if no one claimed it and they said it sort of just sat there forever. They told us to come back in two days and if the camera wasn't claimed, they would return it to us.

We did go back in two days and the camera was still there, so they gave it to us.

When we got home, on a whim, I developed the film (told you this was an old story), and lo and behold, I recognized the people in the pictures. I didn't know their names, or hadn't even spoken to them, but had noticed their adoreable little girl. I called the person that I had booked the trip through as they were one of the organizers and told them the story. They told me to bring the camera and the pictures to them and that they would track the owners down, which they did.

I received a very, very nice note in the mail (and a small reward which I really hadn't wanted) from a very happy person who not only was thrilled to get their expensive camera back but their vacation photo's as well.

What a nice story! I bet you felt really good when that camera and more importantly, the memories (pictures), were reunited with the owner.

BTW.....what's film? :D

Happy Cruising! :)

I was going to suggest that you should have reported it to the casino host/security. My sister turned her back on her machine right after she pritned her ticket to talk to the bartender and someome took it, cashed it and was already walking around the ship with her winnings and they tracked him down, made him give her $$ back and I am not sure what they did with him next:eek: . There are camera's everywhere. Maybe they could have helped. Have you tried calling NCL again to see if it was turned in?

I'm almost certain he would of been kicked off the ship at the next port.

Each time I start a new disc in my digital camera, the very FIRST picture I take is of a paper that I've typed my name, home address and cell phone number (including zip code) on. Should my camera go missing they would have the opportunity to return the camera, or as least my disc!

Is it a good to have a thief know the address of your empty home....

This situation brings to mind two stories for me...

First was one I was just talking about the other day! When I was 12, we were on a cruise that stopped in Panama. We took a tour for the day that went by bus to the canal, where we watched a ship go through and drank Canada Dry ginger ale (I remember laughing as I took the picture of our Canadian companion drinking a 'Canadian' drink in Panama - hey, at 12 I thought that was really funny). We then went in to Panama City and we took a train back to the ship. Well, since I was an absent minded kid, I gave my camera to my mom to 'keep it safe'... and she left it on the train!!! ha ha ha ha ha The story has come up more than once - and we always laugh at the irony that the one time I showed a little bit of responsibility by attempting to ensure my camera was safe, my mom slipped up!! :p

Second, whenever I am stunned by someone's apparent lack of conscience in taking something that doesn't belong to them, I think of a story my grandmother told me. When she started teaching at a local girl's school, the headmistress instructed her to ALWAYS lock her pocketbook in her desk. I think that since 90% of the other staff were nuns, my grandmother may have looked a little surprised, and the headmistress simply explained that whether someone is a nun or not, temptation is what it is, and it is always better to be safe than sorry. I think the fact that she was being instructed, by a NUN, to ensure that her personal belongings were not at potential risk from other NUNS really drove the idea home that among humans, there is always a possibility of succumbing to temptation - and there isn't a lot more tempting than a shiny, new, FREE item of desire... whatever that item might be.

I'm sorry to hear of the OP's experience. What a lousy welcome!! I'm glad the rest of the cruise went well!

We were on the Dawn the week before Oct 5th.We went to see the Jose and Patty show at Dazzles. We ordered a drink and my wife left the camera on the bar.15 minutes later when we realized it was gone my wife ran to the lost and found and there it was even before there set was over.I have no doubt if the crew finds it it goes to lost and found.Unfortunatly the same can't be said about fellow passengers.I'm sorry for your loss.We happened to luck out big time.

My husband's brother left his camera somewhere on the ship of our cruise in '04 early on in the sailing. It was never returned to lost and found. I was telling DH about this thread earlier, and he said that his brother also lost a hat on that cruise. I reminded DH that he had borrowed his brothers hat and proceeded to leave it on the island of Belize. DH responded, "that was a bad cruise for my brother."

A couple of years ago my best friend and I were on the Navigator of the Seas.

We occasionally used the Internet Cafe to check email etc.

Once while he was asleep in the cabin, I walked down to check email. While I was sitting there, I noticed a camera bag next to another computer. Noone was there. I picked it up and you guessed it....it was my best friend's bag!

It contained his expensive digital camera and a video camera. I was dumbfounded....I carried it back to the cabin. It had been several hours since he had left it there and noone had taken it. Hard to believe but true.
