The Enchantment Of The Seas was hit in port when a tug boat pushed a barge into the ship's hull, leaving behind a 50-foot mark on its side, Coast Guard Petty Officer Ryan Doss said.

Michael Sheehan, a Royal Caribbean spokesman, said 2,040 passengers and 741 crew members were on board at the time. The collision left a puncture in the forward, port side of the hull, about six feet above the water line.

Sheehan said the company had begun repairs and the ship was expected to depart as scheduled, continuing its 4-day itinerary that includes a stop in Cozumel, Mexico. It is scheduled to return to Fort Lauderdale on Monday.

The vessel was tied up at a pier near the Hilton Key West Resort & Marina at the time, Doss said.
