Norwegian Sea Cozumel

30 Oct to Nov 5th

Part One Norwegian Sea Ship and Ports Reviews

Sailing, fishing, swimming, a little snorkel, cleaning and cooking fish at sea and “Sushi”! We booked via the internet

A day at sea with four of us via Cozumel Sailing on a 32” catamaran Captained by “Capi Dan” and a crew of two.We sailed out of Puerto Abrigo a five-minute or so cab ride from the Norwegian Sea’s dock. The marina is beautiful It is the one with the “castle tower”! The boat is almost finished an overhaul and was in top shape! Covered deck and huge table for food preparation. We sailed for an hour or more and all took turns on the sails, ropes, rudder and such except me who chopped onions, cut avocados for guacamole and made fresh salsa. Talk about fresh fish!

Soon we stopped and used the four rods and reels for bottom fishing and quickly caught an albacore tuna that was turned in to sushi by Capi Dan! The wasabi and ginger soon were being placed on the fish! I declined, as bait was not on my menu! After a few more fish we cooked a wahoo on the grill smothered in onions, lime, peppers, etc. It was one fine fish, like good sea bass! All took turns swimming and watch the trigger fish that we were stacking and catching. The sea was great, winds favorable and soon everyone was talking nautical! One can sit in a recessed area in the bow or anywhere. The sea spray was refreshing. The satellite radio made the trip much more than one could want: we did 70’s, 60’s, Sinatra, etc. And Caribbean and Mexican music!

We wanted to cruise by the Norwegian Sea but a Mexican Navy gunboat guarded the ship today. Security is good!

All to soon the sun started to set and we sailed back and eventually turned on the motor and cruised into the marina. The day lasted six hours we saw no boat close by, many fish and good fellowship with crew and passengers.

The boats facilities were clean and the toilet worked! The ice chest had fine beer, soda and water and a variety of snacks! The 1st Mate spoke great English, I spoke lousy Spanish. The Corona beer was some smaller size dark glass bottle with superior or premium on the label: was great!

This was our third sailing with Captain Dan and Karen. See the website for details. I will post pictures soon on line. :)

The Mexican Pharmacy post will be on Ports of Call board

Sounds like you had a great trip but I am curious. Which trip did you take in Cozumel. The 1/2 day deep sea fishing or the Tuscan sailing adventure. I am going on the Sea in January and thinking the sailing adventure sounds great fun.
