Pudgesmom Posted November 13, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 13, 2004 Its a bright sunny day here in the Bahamas. We're ready to sail for Ft Lauderdale on the OOsterdam after a week in the Caribbean We've had some bad weather, good food and great company! We're dining with HeatherinFlorida. Mostly, a great trip. The SS cabin is superb, we've spent hours reading and watching Humphrey Bogart. I'm on the way now for a sail away facial special. I will write a review when we return. One interesting note: Dutch night is now International Night, including the Dutch hats, but no chocolate tulips anywhere in evidence. jhannah Posted November 13, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 13, 2004 Hello! Good to hear from you live on the scene. I'm glad your weather is good today. HMC is one of the most beautiful places on earth, IMO. We'll anxiously await more on your trip. Tell Heather hello.

longtimecruiser Posted November 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 13, 2004 Ruth, no chocolate tulips!!! What are you to do? You did look "cute" wearing your dutch hat but I know that the chocolate tulips were the best part of Dutch night for you........
RuthC Posted November 14, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 14, 2004 I don't know, Adele! I simply don't know. Life as I know it may have come to an end. Sure I like the hat. I've got some great pictures over the years, and of course it becomes a really nice dust cloth afterwards. But the tulip gone? If it's truly "International" night HAL still needs to have something Dutch. The chocolate tulip is perfect! Woe is me. Woe is me.
Nautical Wheeler Posted November 14, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 14, 2004 One interesting note: Dutch night is now International Night, including the Dutch hats, but no chocolate tulips anywhere in evidence. Beth:D We were on the Oosterdam 10/31. My DD ordered a chocolate mousse desert on Dutch night which our waiter said used to be called the Chocolate tulip. She loved it and I was miffed because I had ordered something else not knowing that was the tulip. Too full to order another desert!!!!:(
Pudgesmom Posted November 14, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted November 14, 2004 Still no email from my errant teenagers, so I will use my minutes here!:D There was a choclate mousse on International Night, and it was delicious. As far as the bad weather goes, what happened was, we ran into an otherwise unknown low? pressure system after leaving Tortola. We had 12-18 foot seas and gale force winds- either 50 knots or mph. Not sure on that. We were rocking and rolling for almost 24 hours! Yee Ha! I didn't miss my horse at all.;) It cleared up today and all went ashore, including the contingent of service dogs and their owners. Beth
