Sox Fan Cruiser Posted January 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2009 Right now we have booked the Dog Sled Summer Camp that is from 9:10 -11:25am and then booked the Pilot's Choice Ice Age Exploration that starts at noon. Is that enough time in between. Would the Dog Sled go long thus making us miss our helicopter ride? When they say they'll be back at 11:25, it seems fairly accurate as apposed to 11:30. Is there also some place in port to grab a quick bite to eat. I'm just talking some place to grab a take out sandwich or something similar. Or are we just setting ourselves up for failure. The helicopter ride is more important to us than the dog sled. We don't usually do two excursions in one port but this will be our only time to Alaska. cjnky Posted January 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2009 If you're doing these independently, check with your tour operator(s). Possibly they will co-book the tours for you to make sure you get from one to the other.
Sox Fan Cruiser Posted January 22, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted January 22, 2009 Both are through Princess. And I forgot to mention that this is in Juneau.
kenish Posted January 22, 2009 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2009 I'm not sure where the Dog Sled tour is. But the airport is about 30 minutes from the docks, and it makes no sense to go all the way back between tours if they are in the same area. Tour operators are used to transfering customers between them, so call either one and see if it's faster to not return to the docks. (The marina is near the airport and our whalewatch tour picked us up at the airport after our helo tour).
Sox Fan Cruiser Posted February 21, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Bumping this up again. Both of my excursions are through Princess so I assume that they both will pick up and drop off at the ship. Aren't the times "usually" accurate? The more important trip is the helicopter ride and we wouldn't want to miss that. Thoughts?
Budget Queen Posted February 21, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 21, 2009 Princess will automatically take shore excursion bookings within their guidelines. IF this has been accepted, then you can go with it. You aren't going to have much, if any time for purchases between these two tours, so you may want to do this before the first one. There is a coffee shop, across from the tram, with a small selection of food. The other option, I would suggest, is to go on a later helicopter tour, or book independently with a later time. Would be some cost savings as well.
