What happens to unused shipboard credit at the end of the cruise

Can it be applied to a future cruise? By that I mean towards the cost of a future cruise... like a deposit.

Don

I've seen on these boards that HAL refunds any leftover/unused OBC. As to using the unspent amount for a future cruise deposit ... that deposit is not part of your onboard account, as HAL expects you to pay the deposit by credit card, separate from your onboard. I suppose the consultant also would be agreeable to taking cash, though I've never asked.

Just looked at our confirmation for the future cruise deposit we made back in December and it indicates at the bottom that the offer (OBC) is not redeemable for cash.

Unsued Shipboard Credit??? UNUSED????

Yeah, and there's a Yeti lurking on the Dolphin deck and UFOs have drained the water from the aft pool.

Unused shipboard credit...

Tell me another one! :p

Next you'll be trying to sell me a bridge in Manhattan...

(I know. It happens. Just seems so foreign to me not having to cough up a lot MORE at the end of the cruise. LOL.)

Advance deposits made by you will be returned, but if it really looks like you can't use all of the OBCs that were given to, you can always take a cash advance at the front desk or casino. It will cost a 3% fee, but at least you will get 97% of the unused OBC! :)
