Cabo Water Taxi Tour and More

I am traveling to Cabo in February and the ship's Land's End excursion provides a 40 minute "narrated" tour, which sounds appealing to me.

I am considering just hiring one of the local water taxis for some schedule flexibility, but I am assuming this tour won't include the narration. Does anyone know, will I be missing much? I don't really want just a 5 minute shuttle over to Lover's Beach to stop for a few hours. I want some time to view the formations, and do a little water touring. maybe about an hour or two. Also, I will be taking this tour alone, as my cruise buddy doesn't want to do this.

Can anyone suggest a "tour" I should ask for when speaking to the local water taxis? And even though it's a short port day, can anyone suggest shopping, sightseeing or casual (Mexican) outdoor dining in the area for after the water taxi? Thanks to all.
