knharris22277 Posted February 23, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2009 I am getting ready to order the Anniversary Romance Package for our cruise next month and I saw the Kid's Crew Backpacks on the order sheet. Has anyone ordered these? There is no description of what it is, thought it might be a nice surprise for our kids upon boarding....
Marlissa Posted February 23, 2009 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2009 I've never bought or seen this...but I've read that the backpacks are geared towards young children (I'd take that as below 7). Not sure of the ages of yours. Here's some threads: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=931237&highlight=backpack http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=901293&highlight=backpack http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=876756&highlight=backpack
knharris22277 Posted February 23, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted February 23, 2009 Thanks for responding so quickly! Sounds like our kids are going to be too old to really enjoy....they are both 12. I think the soda card will be the way to go for us. I appreciate you sending over the links, they were really helpful. I am new to crusing and posting on the sites - how did you locate the information with the links? Can I search for certain items???
graysladymurphy Posted February 23, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2009 Anyone have a picture of one? Do you get to keep the backpack too? Anyone have a pic of the insulated mug?
Marlissa Posted February 23, 2009 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2009 If the kids like smoothies/virgin drinks, checkout the Teen Passport. You get 20 coupons (which can be split between the kids) good for smoothies and/or virgin drinks. To search, on the main NCL forum screen, there is a Search This Forum on the right side, at the top of the threads. To find what I posted, I searched for backpack. I then scanned thru the titles of the threads to find ones that I thought were related to your question. I found this picture by using Google Images and searching for NCL kid backpack. And yes, the backpack is yours to keep. http://www.ncl.co.uk/web/images/freestyle_cruising_experience/Kid_Crew_backpac.jpg
knharris22277 Posted February 23, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted February 23, 2009 Thanks you have been really helpful! Can we do the teen smoothie card if the kids are only 12? Everything I have read says they have to be 13???
Marlissa Posted February 23, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2009 Honestly, I'm not sure. DD was within the age limit when we bought it. You can always try the online purchase and if that doesn't work, they do sell them onboard the ship (I think they set up a table/area during embarkation for sales). MIDWEST-CRUISER Posted February 23, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2009 Just a warning to anyone one with a larger size child. The t-shirts are only in kid sizes so by 8 my son did not fit in to it.

tiggerfan616 Posted February 24, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Just a warning to anyone one with a larger size child. The t-shirts are only in kid sizes so by 8 my son did not fit in to it. I was offered a larger shirt if the one included did not fit. The insulated mug is the same one they give you with the soda card. They also include an cup with a straw, cheap plastic sunglasses and a hat Depending on how many days you are cruising the $39 for the kids backpack is a lot cheaper then purchasing the soda card seperatly. And they have actually changed the pack pack its not as babyish now. Still for 12 yrs olds I dont think they would like it.
gkrnjlr Posted February 24, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 24, 2009 My kids are going to be 4 and 5 on our next cruise. Is this something that my kids would like? The "stuff" in the backpack, etc.? and how much is this Kids Crew backpack? Thanks!
MNFreeze Posted February 24, 2009 #12 Share Posted February 24, 2009 I think a 4 and 5 year old would like it but pretty much after that age they may think it was a little to young for them.
gkrnjlr Posted February 24, 2009 #13 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Do you know the price of the backpack or a link to where I can get more information about price, contents and ordering info? Thanks for your help!
Marlissa Posted February 24, 2009 #14 Share Posted February 24, 2009 Do you know the price of the backpack or a link to where I can get more information about price, contents and ordering info? Thanks for your help! What little info NCL tells about it can be found on the Bon Voyage Gift page http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/cruiser/cmsPages.html?pageId=BonVoyageGifts#kids. There is an order form (that needs to be faxed or called in) found towards the top of the Bon Voyage page, right side. I think it comes with the backpack, hat, tshirt, cup and soda card. But, you could do a search on Cruise Critics and see if you can find a more definitive answer.
JMB123 Posted February 24, 2009 #15 Share Posted February 24, 2009 My 3 1/2 year old loved it. It didn't look anything like the picture, so they must have changed it. The backpack itself is great and we used it on all of our excursions. It's navy blue. It came with a hat (yellow), t-shirt (blue), sunglasses, straw cup (his favorite!), and luggage tag. The hat and t-shirt were too big on him, and he's a big kid (wears a 5T or 5-6 kids). And the soda card, of course...the cost on the 10 day was $46.00. Definitely worth it.
