lizaj1 Posted February 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 26, 2009 Has anyone noticed the fine print for the player's club on Princess? It says that slot annd table players may receive complimentary drinks while playing. I have only seen this done on a Princess ship when someone is betting consistently over a long period and sometimes very late at night when the diehards are still at it. I know the lines have talked about it. I know it isn't like Vegas, but a free drink would be a nice perk. Any recent experiences out there to report? Had the casino host buy me a few drinks last month on the Grand. And I wasn't in the casino late. Plus they get to know your face and recognize just how much time you actually spend gambling. I have found this happening often the last three years. But, from what I could see, it was only those that did some serious gambling that they bought the drinks for. And not just for the loosers! ;) Good Luck!

But probably after some poor individual has lost a few grand over several hours.
rdsqrl Posted February 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted February 26, 2009 That could end up being one very expensive free drink . . . !

mycruz Posted February 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted February 26, 2009 Got a free glass of Ginger Ale one day in the casino. Even after being the casino everyday on a 10 day cruise, the only reason I got it was the bartender remembered me and the seas were very rough that day. My question is, how do you get them to run a tab in the casino? I hate that I have to stop what I'm doing to sign a check when they bring a drink over to the table. sheeps daughter Posted February 26, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2009 When we were on diamond they had several nights where you got a free cocktail when playing the slots and we got a free casino drinks voucher and $5 credit when playing blackjack on the island night. haggis Posted February 26, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 26, 2009 It used to be common practise that players got free drinks in the casino on Princess ships. However, that was many years ago and I've never seen it happen since Players took over the running. Maybe we're just to lucky to warrant it. bhopal21 Posted February 26, 2009 #9 Share Posted February 26, 2009 I consistently got free cocktails on my last trips on The Grand and Golden; but last week on The Island the closest I came was free drinks one evening in the casino from 1130pm to 1230am bar brands only. Mike:)
spongerob Posted February 26, 2009 #10 Share Posted February 26, 2009 It's definitely hit or miss. It helps to make contact with the supervisors and say hello. If you want to avoid signing every tab, just tell your waiter to leave it open and check back regularly.
Katie333 Posted February 26, 2009 #11 Share Posted February 26, 2009 On my recent trip on the Coral there were a couple of times free drinks were advertised in the Patter. For 1 hour periods they would offer a free drink of the player's choice.
sierramyst44 Posted March 10, 2009 #12 Share Posted March 10, 2009 My husband recieves free cruise thru NCL casino at sea's and they give us both a drink cards good at the casino. We only have to pay taxes and port charges for the cruise. Does princess have anything like that?

The only perk I have seen is when Princess offers us a deal on one of the 'casino cruises' where they offer a large casino credit if we book. casinovisitor Posted March 10, 2009 #14 Share Posted March 10, 2009 I believe it really depends on the casino manager. On our last cruise around the horn the host offered my DH and I many, many drinks and also offered drinks to my sis and mum when they were in the casino with us. It is helpful to introduce yourself to the hosts and a warm smile and hello when you are in the casino can do nothing but help

swom Posted March 11, 2009 #16 Share Posted March 11, 2009 I don't guess dropping 20 bucks in a one dollar slot machine a night qualifies for free drinks does it???

Remember, a look at the slot read out screen now and they know how many credits you have played since you opened your casino account. I think that is a big clue who is playing the slots often and who is just there to drop a twenty. ;)

I could just "sit" at the sportsbar and they will come and offer drinks. That is how the cocktail waitresses make their money.

sunsurf Posted March 11, 2009 #20 Share Posted March 11, 2009 Just off the Emerald and they did have (one night) Casino Drink Specials, along with free selected drinks at the Casino Bar for all slot and table players --11:30 pm- 12:30am. I think they had 3 or 4 different types of them from what I read on the board. That was probably one of the few nights we didn't go.
daydreamer16 Posted March 11, 2009 #21 Share Posted March 11, 2009 We just returned from the Ruby (2/28) and there was one night when there was one hour (11:30-12:30) of free drinks. It was a choice of about 6 different drinks @ 2 per person. My husband and I had been playing for about 2 hours at that point and after no one came to take our drink order he went to the bar. He was told to go back to the machine and at that point a waiter had arrived and was taking my order and the person next to me. When my husband tried to order he said that my husband wasn't playing. Of course we argued and finally he got his drink. It is a shame that casino hosts etc were not monitoring who was playing. We are not big gamblers, we probably spent $250 over the week so 4 drinks is not too much to expect.
Toto2Kansas Posted March 11, 2009 #22 Share Posted March 11, 2009 So you're saying to be sure and use my cruise card to register and maybe I could get that free watered down drink??? :D It's a regular drink right from the bar that they send over. No more watered down then any other drink you puchase on board. Nothing like those at the cocktail parties. ;)

When we were last on the Golden and Grand by the time I was seated at the slots the waiter was there with a Sapphire and tonic (not watered down). Alas, this was not the case, even once on our Island Princess cruise last month. And the two evenings when they did have free drinks from 1130 to 1230 they were bar brands only, no top shelf liquor.:( Mike:)
