hamlettm Posted February 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2009 We are heading out on the Carnival Sensation March 22 for a nice 4 day cruise. We are going to port near Atlantis for 2 days. Do you guys suggest we head over for a full day and then come back to the ship when we get tired? Should we do Atlantis for two days? Should I take a taxi over myself? If so what time should we return to the ship? I noticed some posts saying watch out after dark. Anyway I won't book through Carnival as it's only a 5hr trip for $155 a person!! So I would like to go over for the day with the family then go back to the ship that night and repeat the next day. Is Atlantis big enough and have enough there for a full two day where nobody will get bored? Also with the price of admission to Atlantis do you get to do everything? How far is a taxi ride there? THANKS!
hamlettm Posted February 27, 2009 Author #2 Share Posted February 27, 2009 Comfort Suites is $320 for the 4 of us. Should I nook that? Do I get access to Atlantis with the booking there? Would you stay at CS or go back to the ship that evening? Would you stay out after dark with 2 kids on the Bahamas?
beach410 Posted February 27, 2009 #3 Share Posted February 27, 2009 HI, we did this during our last spring break cruise and absolutely enjoyed it. I believe you leave Nassau real early the next day, so you dont get an actual full day. We checked in and out of CS at the same time, never even saw the room, because we wanted to eat on the ship, very expensive at Atlantis. We had not desire to go back in the evening, as theres not much to do besides the casino, pools close at 5 I believe. We paid $230 as well for the room, but they do add $40 resort fees to that charge and I have to tell you, for a family of 4, it was worth it. Carnival sells day passes for over $100 each. When you book the room you get access to everything they have to offer and the grounds are huge and spectacular. They have numerous pools, a lagoon, private beach, waterpark, aquarium, casino and more! We had a blast there, we were there from about 10-5, dont miss the lazy river, its not lazy, a lot of fun! My kids really enjoyed it as well and would love to go back. I would do it again.
hamlettm Posted February 27, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted February 27, 2009 Ok thanks I'll book a room then. Do you just check in at the hotel, get the wrist bands and go across the street? Was it hard getting a taxi? How safe is the island? Oh and what about cash and credit cards any suggestions?

It's easy to get a taxi both coming and going The island is very safe in the tourist areas Cash is not accepted at Atlantis at the pool bars and grills. So you'll need a credit card. beach410 Posted February 27, 2009 #7 Share Posted February 27, 2009 After you check in, you walk a short distance to Atlantis, they give you a receipt. You are directed to a towel hut, where they will give you wristbands and towels. We got a little lost and had to ask directions, I dont remember who gave us a map of the property, so you may want to ask for one when you check in if available and for directions to the towel hut. I do remember going through the aquarium to get there. Just checked our reciept, this is correct: Comfort Suites Paradise Island Paradise Island Dr. , Paradise Island, BS
beach410 Posted February 27, 2009 #8 Share Posted February 27, 2009 And yes, we felt safe. You will find plenty of taxis to take you there at the port, if memory serves me correct, it was $5 a person there and $4 back. Not sure why that was, but our party had two vans full.
