Imagination 4 day 2/23/09 review

Hi, DH and I just returned from a 4 day cruise on the Imagination. This was our 7th cruise. First time we went alone and also the first time on a 4 day. Others have been 7 days. Anyway, we had a great time!

We flew in to Miami the day before and stayed at Hyatt Regency downtown. Had a great room. Very large. Walked to Bayside that night for dinner.

The next morning we walked to CVS (about 3 blocks) to get some last minute items and then took a shuttle to the port. We arrived at the port about 12:30 and were up on Lido having lunch at about 1:15. Very smooth embarkation.

We had an oceanview room on Upper deck. Tuesday was a stop at Key West. We did not book an excursion. Just walked Duval Street to the Southernmost point and shopped our way back. Went to Kino's Sandals and bought myself and DD shoes. Love them. That night was formal night. First production show that night "Livin in America". Good show.

Wednesday was Cozumel. No excursion booked. In fact, this was our 4th time to Cozumel so we stayed on the ship until about 6:00 pm and then went over, took a taxi to downtown and just did some shopping. This was the first time we had stayed on board while in port and we loved it! It was awesome to have the ship to ourselves. The padded loungers in the adults only Serenity area are sooooo comfortable. Show was a juggler/comedian who was really good. Also another comedian who was very funny.

Thursday was a sea day. Production show that night was "Shout". Good show.

Josh was the CD and we thought he was really good. Not cheesy as some CD's are. Casino is small and was not friendly to me at all. DH had a little luck so we left with just a little less than we took.

We had an early flight out on Friday, so we did self assist debarkation. It was very smooth. Our deck was called about 8:30 and we were at the Miami airport at about 9:15.

We have decided that for us 4 days is too short and we prefer the larger ships, but we had a great time and would recommend the Imagination!

You've really whetted my appetite, DH and I will be on the Imagination April 6th and I can hardly contain myself. We had planned to do the walk around in Key West as well seeing that we're really not there all that long.

Your experience was virtually identical to mine, down to the Hyatt Regency ($65/night on Priceline) and the oceanview cabin on Upper Deck.

As far as the shows go, Livin' in America was better than Shout in my opinion. Shout just had too many cheesy sets for me, but it was still a decent show considering it was free. Our cruise had a balancing act instead of the juggler and we had two different comedians which did a small act during the first and 3rd nights of the show as well as two adults-only late night comedy shows in the Xanadu lounge on the 2nd and 4th nights.

For the price, I don't think you can beat the Imagination, especially during the off-season. I'm going again in December for $189 per person, oceanview for the 4-night.

I agree that for the price, the Imagination can't be beat. It is a nice ship and the renovations are really nice. I forgot about the adults only comedian shows at midnight. We went to the first one, but didn't make the second.
