The_Big_M Posted March 6, 2009 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2009 Not a very good report from BBC; print was better. They're tough conditions to pull that ship's moorings away though.

Infi Posted March 6, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 6, 2009 Wow, that video from the BBC was awful. I hope the injured passenger (and crew?) will be okay. It's so strange to see that happening to a big ship, which makes the video so surreal. I saw something similar on our December cruise: we were docked in Curacao, and a headwind hit the ship and shook the moorings. (One of officers told me that they were likely tied improperly.) One of the gangways fell into the water, though thankfully no passengers were on it at the time. The gangway was broken for good and it was rough on the crew who had to go down into the water to pull it out and reattach it. The ship had to use the side thrusters to get back to shore. This report really makes you think - our ship was very lucky that nothing worse happened. Scary.
