This is a question that does get asked very often but the answer is, yes, US currency is widely accepted in Vancouver and Victoria. It is done so as a courtesy to our American guests, however there is a good 20 cent difference between our dollars (in your favour) right now and you will likely only get about 10 cents from a cabby or in a stores or restaurants; you will also get your change in CDN.

Taxis take credit cards and many businesses take US cash, do expect a poor exchange. I go to Ca frequently and use plenty of Ca funds, so no problem for me, if I overdo it at an ATM. BUT do not expect the US to take the left over Ca money. :)
