New to CARNIVAL/ Anytime dining???????

We also had anytime dining on the Liberty last month and were very disappointed. It was nice to be able to go to dinner at our convenience, but first of all, tables were extremely close together. Also, unless you are seated along the rail, you miss the little "shows" that they put on during dinner. The servers seemed so flustered...the service was just not good. One night I was asked if I would like some wine, I said yes, and the man walked off and no one ever came to take my order. Also, the food was not good. We found that they were serving many of the same items at the lido buffet most evenings. We went to the supper club both formal nights, and I wish we could have gone every night...superior food and service, it is worth every penny. We made reservations first sea day. I would go back to a set dining time, just for the relationship you form with the staff and to get better service, if nothing else.

We will always go with traditional dining as we like the relationship we form with our dining staff. We find they relate to our likes and dsilikes and aim to please! We love getting to know our wait staff and make our dinner time into a true social occasion.

I hope not. Glory is still fixed dining. There were some that thought that it was anytime dining, and would come in and cause a scene because there were no open tables for the 6 pm meal.

personally, I want an assigned time, waiter, bar waiter, asst waiter, and table.

If you want anytime dining, go to the buffett. that is why it is there.

But that is my opinion.

Some people just aren't too bright I guess. The dining time and restaurant is printed right on their S & S cards.

Why anyone would go into the dining room and cause a ruckus when anytime is not even offered on that ship.

I guess it takes all kinds.

When we booked our cruise for May, on the Sensation, we have late seating in the dining room.

even if you pick anytime dining you still get to eat in the dining room.:)

If you have a fixed dining you know the time you are eating.

Freestyle is anytime.............

Hey Brenda Bell,

nice pooches.:) Just wondering who you are replying to. I don't understand your response since I don't know who you are responding to??

A recent CC poll indicated that most people prefer fixed dining times. Of course, CC only represents a small (1%) percentage of cruisers but it could have an impact.

Other boards where the option is available have many posts about problems with this option, having to make reservations, long waits for tables, etc. I hope Carnival is listening.

In any case, on the Triumph in December and Liberty in January, the MDR was full.................

They're doing it due to customer demand. Carnival is pretty much the last mass market line to roll it out. You (and I) can still have traditional dining.

Exactly!

All mass market cruiselines are going this route because that is what the majority wants.......

They are giving everyone a choice.....if you love traditional then stick with it........

People that love anytime should choose anytime........

I wonder how many voted in the poll that never even tried anytime dining??

Most people are comfortable with what they know. Give it a shot, you may like it.

The only line where I've read numerous complaints about making reservations and long wait times is NCL. I have read a couple with long wait complaints on Princess but very few.

Why wouldn't the MDR's be full?

I don't like to sit with strangers and I don't need my servers fawning all over me or calling me by name.

As long as I get good service that's all I'm worried about.

I'll take the anytime dining any day of the week.:)

Anyone that has EVER eaten in a restaurant has done "Anytime" dining.

Those that have never cruised may not have ever experienced traditional cruise dining, but they CERTAINLY have experienced "Anytime!"

I enjoy the interaction with new people on a cruise, at dinner, or other times.

YOU communicate with total strangers right here on CC all the time. What's the big deal when we're all eating? Same, same, to me.

I only experienced "Anytime" on Princess [other than once or twice a week dining out at home]. My comlaint is traffic. [K, won't agree] But I found an awful lot of traffic around the table. With constant bumping of my chair and people squeezing by.

Only thing I can surmise [and I could be out in left field] is that "Anytime requires a thinner table density than traditional. In trad. ALL the diners enter within a 10 minutes period [YES there are some stragglers]. Once they are all seated the only traffic around ALL the tables is the waiters. There is the occasional trip to the loo. But mostly it is all waiters.

In "Anytime" people are at every stage of their meals at all times. With tables vacated and reseated in due course. That causes a GREAT DEAL more traffic in the DR and I think the table arrangements don't allow for that increased traffic.

You like "Anytime?" Well you got it for Breakfast and Lunch and the Buffet all day. Are you NEVER satisfied:D:D???

A major complaint about trad. is "RUSHING" to get ready for dinner. Hokum!

With the dress code, there is NO get ready for dinner! [just kidding]

And 90 plus% of ports, require us to be back on board long before early seating. And half those gripers have late seating anyhoo.

I LIKE that what I do on a cruise is different than ordinary life. I'm retired, I no longer have any regimentation in my life. The tiny bit required by traditional dining is a welcome change.
