Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted March 12, 2009 #26 Share Posted March 12, 2009 Question, folks. What is the minimum amount of shares you must own of RCI in order to have a shareholder benefit?

Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted March 12, 2009 #28 Share Posted March 12, 2009 Thanks MamaCat. This might be a good time to invest in RCI stock because I can imagine that in about five year or sooner, it will be worth considerably more. Of course, the global economy being what it is, that would be a gamble.
WendyinOC Posted March 12, 2009 #29 Share Posted March 12, 2009 I bought 1000 shares not for the discount but I plan to make some money!! Bought it at $5.96. I think this is a deal. Not only the shipboard credit but I believe RCCL will survive this recession.
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted March 12, 2009 #30 Share Posted March 12, 2009 I hope with all my heart and soul that RCI will survive this recession. I just got one of my wild ideas. Maybe RCI could have a special shareholders' suite on each ship with special amenities for proven shareholders who book it. Of course, only shareholders could book it. petesweet Posted March 12, 2009 #33 Share Posted March 12, 2009 I will have made $100 on the stock and saved $200 (booking two cabins) on the cruise I intend to book for 2011. Sorry - I believe you can use it only for the cabin you are in - not for both cabins you book. Also, can someone confirm the benefits for Azamara and Celebrity? I was thinking they had their own stock ownership program.
petersonwith3 Posted March 12, 2009 #34 Share Posted March 12, 2009 Quick Update - I woke up this am and purchased 100 shares of stock out of my already established brokerage account. Then I emailed (and faxed) a copy of the purchase reciept to RCCL (using the address provided above by Longhorn)...just 4 hours later I have a confirmation from RCCL. I am good to go. Plus - I bought at $7 a share today and it is already at $8.05...woo hoo. Just kidding, I understand the Stock Market, unfortunately. But still nice to see a $100 credit and $100 profit in half a day. Thanks to the OP for posting this in first place - I do believe in RCCL and love their product. Celebrity does not have the discount that RCCL does ($200.00 off for a balcony if you are DIamond). You get ther same amounts OBC as you do on RCCL. Works out great for us. Only one OBC per cabin and the ower of the stock must be in the cabin to get it. So if 1 person owes 200 shares and you are booking 2 cabins than only 1 cabin will get the OBC and that would be the cabin with the stockholder in it. RCL stock benefit is good towards Azamara & Celebrity as well with one exception - it can not be used on Celebrity's Xpedition (Galapagos Island cruise). We're booked on both lines and had no problem applying the OBC. :)

Buccaneergirl Posted March 13, 2009 #39 Share Posted March 13, 2009 We hold RCI stock in our 401K, so it a looooong term investment. Can we not combine this anymore with our diamond discount? Don't know 'cause we booked this last cruise before 2009.
cruisePRN Posted March 13, 2009 #40 Share Posted March 13, 2009 I used the stock benefit on Azamara in May with no problem. I was not allowed to use it on Xpedition but that ship is all inclusive so it wouldn't be useful anyway.

Not only the shipboard credit but I believe RCCL will survive this recession. Agree 1000%!!! But I couldn't afford the 1,000 shares, even at $5.96. (We must have bought at the same time!!) There are way too many of us "Loyal Royals" for the stock not to recover!
travelbug11 Posted March 19, 2009 #42 Share Posted March 19, 2009 I just booked this morning and they told me that I couldn't combine anything with the $300 balcony discount. Then I had my TA take over the reservation and he spoke with a supervisor who said that since I had the FC from last year that I CAN use it and my stockholder benefit on the cruise. He said he is going to hold her to it. Fingers crossed.
