Glory vs Inspiration---Help me decide

CasinoQueen

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone :)

I am trying to decide between the Carnival Inspiration going to the Grand Caymen and Cozumel-- for $229 PP OR the Carnival Glory going to the Grand Caymen, Rotan Honduras, Belize City Belize, and Cozumel Mexico for $359 PP.

Just a little about my husband and myself---One of my favorite things to do on earth is save $$, I consider it a sport. On Cruise vacations I like trivia and lounging in the Adults only area- reading a book and the shows. My husband likes to sit in hot tubs, eat food and visit the casino.

Any Advice is appreciated...

I believe the inspiration is a much smaller ship than the Glory. Once we went on a bigger ship we weren't happy going back. The Glory is a newer and entirely different class of ship. Given the number of ports, I'm guessing that the Inspiration is only a 5 day trip. That rate is a great one for Glory 7 days.

We love the Glory because of the friendly staff and the excellent service. We were at most of those ports the last 2 years and they are all great. We just like the 7 day cruises and the time to relax on the sea days. I do like the other cruise and thought about booking it this year but instead got a really good deal on the Carnival Liberty. Anytime you're on a cruise is the best!!!!! :o

This is really a double edged question...

1) 2 completely different ships

2) a 5 night vs. 7 night cruise

3) 5 night per diem = $45.80 p/p per day + $10.00 p/p per day tips

7 night per diem = $51.29 p/p per day + 10.00 p/p per day tips

I can only assume that the rates you mention do not include non commisionable fees and gov't taxes.

So now you are in the ports of call..... and if you do tours or cab fares/tips, a drink or two in port, shopping, or any shore tours at all.... more ports = more cash !

Don't just look at the cost of the cruise, but also the little "extra's" that can add up when making the decision !

I have been on both ships and while the Glory is newer and bigger, I prefer the Inspiration. We found the crew to be tremendous and it was very relaxing.

With the Glory, you get more bells and whistles but the ship's design is confusing and it was probably our least favorite cruise.

And I am not a small ship person. My favorite ship so far is RC's Adventure of the Seas, and second fav is the Carnival Miracle.

Please keep posting your opinion on these two cruises as I debate between these 2 different ships and yes, a 5 day-inspiration and a 7 day-glory cruise.

Also...

Both ships visit Cozumel...

and the Glory visits Cozumel and Belize--I have heard some scary things about these ports..did you feel safe while visiting these ports?

We have cruised on both of these ships and while I enjoy all cruises I highly recommend the Glory. If you have never been to Roatan, that island in itself is worth choosing the Glory (truly an Island, beautiful). When you tender into Belize there are a few shops and docking area surrounded by a fence with guards (at least when we were there). Belize like Roatan is a very, very poor place, although not near the beauty of Roatan. We were booked on a tour that was to takes us to one of the Cays (pronounced 'Keys') for some beach going and snorkeling. However, the boat they take you on had broken and we ended up taking a land tour of Belize. Again, very poor country, flat lands around where you dock. Do not venture outside of the fenced area in Belize where you dock. There are not any 'beaches' persay around the area in Belize where you dock, so you really need to book a tour. I guess the thing I didn't care for about the inspiration was the Lido deck layout (large stage in the middle, maybe used twice), although I know they have redone this ships. The Glory is a lovely ship with plenty to do, or not do.;) One of our favorite places to cruise out of is Port Canaveral where Glory docks. We always fly in a few days early to stay in Cocoa Beach, love that place.

We cruised on the Inspiration this past January the 5 day cruise and really loved it, As a matter of fact we have booked another cruise the 5 day again for next January on the Inspiration.

I am well aware of what bit of bio info you were including in your OP, but you said "One of my favorite things to do on earth is save $$", and well in my book $229 p/p is less than $359.00 p/p ! Looks like to save $$$ the answer is right there before your eyes !

Now if you want to talk value vs. cost, thats a whole different issue and subject to opinion and buyers discretion.

Anyway you look at it, the 7 night will cost you more in the end, but it's your $$$

Ditto that... Ispiration was my first and second cruise, Conquest (sister to Glory) next and swore i was never going back smaller, then Glory, then Miracle.. Miracle is much bigger than inspiration, but smaller then Glory and was to small for me... Gotta Love the Conquest Class!!!!!!!!!

Those are the only two ships i have cruised on. They are just different ships. The inspiration is smaller and older but just more intimate. The Glory is big new with the aft pool and other cool stuff but has an overcrowded feeling which i didn't like. It's a big decision that you will have to make depending on what you want out of your cruise and nobody on here can answer that for you. Greg
