tink24 Posted March 14, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 14, 2009 I'm thinking about sailing on the Freedom out of FLL. What is the earliest time I can safely book our flight home? Carnival website says 11:30 if you use Carnival transfers. There are some appealing flights at 11:20 am, but I am afraid to miss the flight. Would we be OK if we took a taxi instead of using the Carnival transfers? Please help me.
acetray Posted March 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 14, 2009 i would say you would be pushing it. But I always like to get to the airport really early just to be safe
pnjkeith Posted March 14, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 14, 2009 Do self embark. You will be at airport no later than 8:30 am. I hate setting at airport, so we always get early flight. Never been a problem, Stay away from Carnival Shuttle, take a Cab!!
Phxbyny Posted March 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 14, 2009 Maybe I was the exception to the rule, but... I had an 11:40am flight out of FLL. Came off the Carnival Liberty in Miami. I did the self assist and wound up at the airport at 10am
dbrucern Posted March 14, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2009 We were at the FLL airport at 9am for a 4pm flight believe me if I knew it would have been this early I would have booked the 11:30 flight originally.
DanusLight Posted March 14, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 14, 2009 We were at FLL from the port in Miami by 9:30 for 12:00 flights .. and yes, we did self-debarkation and took a taxi to FLL.
stlrboo Posted March 14, 2009 #7 Share Posted March 14, 2009 Anything after 11 AM is makeable from FLL.... (barring any complications from Customs)...:) We had an 1140 AM and did a lot of 'sitting' at the airport...:p I have an 1150 AM from TPA in June, and don't even consider that 'not makeable', and we don't do 'self-assist'..;):D YAWN! Muumuu Posted March 17, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 17, 2009 We are Vip and did self disembark. Off ship in FL by 0740 and in airport via cab before 0800. We had an 1130 flight, but they put us on the 0900 flight. So we were home before our original flight was to leave Fla. We were lucky and all the cards fell in place for us. cruisinbuddy Posted March 17, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 17, 2009 I'd book a 12:00 (ish) flight. We did this a couple years ago. We did regular debarkation and still had a 2.5 hr wait at the airport. The airport is 10 minutes by taxi, don't use the shuttles. Taxi this past January was $13.90 + tip, undoubtedly cheaper than shuttles.

mek Posted March 18, 2009 #11 Share Posted March 18, 2009 I've done 11:30 flights frequently with time to spare, but you do have to pay attention to how many ships are in port the same day. Lots of ships = longer security lines.
Muumuu Posted March 18, 2009 #12 Share Posted March 18, 2009 If you do get to the airport early if you want, ask about getting on an earlier flight as we did. Those later ones are usually heavly booked with a wait list and more bumping occurs.
