Waitlisted for Dining???

Waitlisted also! Interesting, cause yesterday when I was checking something on my reservation it wasn't listed that way! Also interesting - it won't let me pull up my linked reservation. Will show only my dd's cabin (they are adjoining balconies - I made the reservation for 2 cabins) I keep getting an error message when I try to pull up my booking #. I'm sure Carnival will get it worked out shorty!

We've also become waitlisted for early seating within the past couple of days. It sounds as if it's happened to everyone :( The only other time we've been waitlisted for dining preference was on RCL when we booked just three days prior to sailing. To me, "waitlisted" means that the dining room is full and we might get seats if someone cancels the cruise or moves to another seating. I find Carnival's terminology confusing. I wish they would say "requested" instead.

I posted this on another thread, but wanted to add that FWIW, my PVP had this to say, "We are actually in the process of starting to confirm dining times instead of doing the 'requests' like we've been doing. They are confirming existing bookings based on the dates they were booked."

That would be an excellent idea.........other cruise lines do this.

Ok, after reading this thread I decided to view my documents online for our Liberty cruise leaving March 28th (Saturday) and it now says "Late seating waitlisted" and it didn't say that last week when I printed my documents.

I hope this means we still get late seating because I prefer that!

This is why this open seating option should be put in place by Carnival sooner then later. I myself don't like to be tied to a certain time and now your wondering if you'll get your requested seating time. I'd sure wish CCL would incorporate the NCL freestyle dining.

I agree with LHP.

However . . . I've found that the sooner you see the Maitade' the better your chances are of changing your dining time.

I think it's best if as soon as you board . . . drop your carry on off at your cabin and go directly to the diningroom. It's most likely that you'll already find a line of people waiting to talk to the maitadi'.

Explain to him/her the reason for your requesting the early seating and ask if you can possibly be switched to the early seating.

In most cases (depending on how full the ship is) they'll be able to accomodate you.

(the key is to talking to him/her BEFORE too many other passengers have asked for the same request).

My best advice . . . Get to the diningroom EARLY.

Annie

From Carnival's web site...I'm not sure how long it's been there....

Confirmed Dining

At time of booking, Carnival guests will be able to confirm their preferred dining choice. If their preference is not available, they may confirm an alternate choice and be waitlisted for their preferred choice. Waitlists will be cleared prior to the sailing and guests will be notified by email.

Just got off the telephone with our PVP regarding the "waitlist" issue. It seems that the method of reserving the Early, Late, and now "anytime" (your time) dining is evolving. The website is attempting to keep up with those changes, but unfortunately it is causing confusion. Bottom line goal is to allow folks to confirm their main dining room reservations at the time of booking. Carnival is incrementally making changes to existing bookings to confirm dining choices. Those not yet "confirmed" are identified as "waitlisted".

Try not to get too wrapped around the axle on this most recent change to Carnival's website....at least now we will know in advance what seating we will have on a given cruise for the main dining room...better than finding out on debarkation day and then having to scramble to the Maitre'D to try and get it changed.

I forgot to add this to my previous post....

One thing our PVP did say was that the earlier you book, the better chance of getting your preferred dining choice confirmed....makes sense to me.

For those of you who may be booked on the Spirit Class vessels....our PVP indicated the anytime dining is going to be located in the upper level of the dining room (Spirit class ships have only one main dining room, with two stories). She also stated that each of the levels has approximately the same number of seats available, so there should not be an issue.

Why in the world I didn't go to CC before contacting my TA with the same question, is beyond me ! Not crazy about how they are handling the seating assignments  but...............so be it. We're on the Fascination in May and there is no open seating. Hope everyone gets what they asked for !!!! For us, we're hoping for the late seating.:D

Yup, me too. I just checked my res and saw "waitlisted" then promptly came here to see if there was a thread about that before I started one to ask. We booked our res back in September, so I assumed 1st come 1st served on requests for dining. Maybe not, huh? I'm not concerned since it is just my husband and me on this sailing, but if we were taking our 8 yo daughter with us, I'd be concerned just as the op is. She is special needs and would no longer be awake for late dining, meaning someone would miss dinner staying back in the cabin with her. To the op: Hopefully, Carnival will make sure your needs are met. This will be our first sailing with Carnival so I can't speak to their service, but surely they will take your needs into consideration and try their best to accommodate you. Good Luck!
