Mother Bear Posted November 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2004 Hi I was wondering if anyone has printed thier broading passes at home? If so can you explain what you did once arriving at the airport. Thanks Teresa
kelmac Posted November 29, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 29, 2004 Teresa, Which airline? Each has a different set of rules. :D Kel
joelmarj Posted November 29, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 29, 2004 I do it all the time. Makes it a piece of cake especially if you aren't checking any bags. However, assuming you are going on a cruise, you'd likely be checking backs so there's not a whole lot of advantage as you still need to either check your bags at curb-side (skycaps just won't have to print your boarding pass for you). Some airlines (ie.,Delta) have Kiosks that you can print your boarding pass and hand an agent your bags right there. This location also works for you if you pre-printed the boarding pass at home. Just go to the kiosk area and an agent should be there to take the bags. The ultimate advantage to either the pre-print at home or using the kiosk is that there is almost never a line there. But if you go to an agent or even the skycaps there is generally a line, especially on weekends (IMO - weekend travelers are more likely to go to the agent lines). Andee Posted November 30, 2004 #5 Share Posted November 30, 2004 We print our boarding passes at home whenever we can. Then, if we just have a carry-on, we go right to security. If we need to check luggage, we find curbside check-in the quickest.
kelmac Posted November 30, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2004 MotherBear, I'm not sure it will matter, because you may have to take your luggage through US customs at your airport; at least that's the way they do it in Vancouver?? They do a precustoms check there, so when you get to your US city you don't have to go through the process. Can't see how the online checkin would hurt? I would give it a try! Enjoy! Phoenix cruiser Posted December 8, 2004 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2004 The other reason to check in online is that when you do that your official check-in time is when you print your passes, which can be as much as 30 hours in advance. This gives you a leg up if they do an involuntary bump becuase a flight is oversold, the airlines often do denied boarding to the people who check in the latest. jimc_usa Posted December 21, 2004 #8 Share Posted December 21, 2004 Actually the check-in time online is 24 hours thanks to the security people (TSA). The biggest advantage maybe getting a better seat!
