Millie 10/13/04 - Our booking/stateroom was cancelled!!!

We have had 8100 booked on the Millennium for a while. This morning I checked the Celebrity website, like I do every morning to check prices and other availability. Imagine my surprise when I saw that our stateroom was listed as being available for our sailing.

I contacted my TA, who in return checked with Celebrity. Celebrity told her the booking had been cancelled and they are checking into the situation. By the time I was able to get with the TA, 8100 had been snapped up! Funny thing is...our friends have another stateroom booked with our TA and their booking is alright.

I was hoping maybe Celebrity had decided to give us an upgrade. :D

Now, the only CC staterooms that are available are connecting...something we do not want. We picked out 8100 because of its location to the elevator, toward the front half of the ship and the fact that it was one of the few that was not connecting. Now we have none.

Any advice as to what we should do or say when the TA gets back with me tomorrow?

BTW - I have used this same TA for my last several cruises and trust that the problem was not her fault.

I must say, it would suck to be you!

Honestly, it would, but I digress, don't put up with this, it's your cabin, demand you get it back, don't except anything, unless of course it's a Penthouse, then just tuck your tail between your legs, and eat it!

Well, at this early date, I am hoping that more staterooms will open up after final payment. My TA seems to think that several staterooms are being held by a TA group as the ship is too full this early out. I am just lucky that I happened to see the stateroom availability this morning. I had not checked the site for the last few days because of the holidays and almost didn't check this morning!

I can't believe your room is not available. We had the same experience when doing our weekly pricing check but our TA called X and they said it was a computer glitch and we still had our reserved room.

I agree you should have your TA go hard at X and get your room back!

I had a similar problem, but it was the rez agents fault. He/she for some unknown reason put our stateroom back into inventory while our agent was asking them a question about a rate change. The rez agent did not tell our agent what they had done.

Once I discovered Celebrity had assigned us a different stateroom, I contacted our agent. He, in turn, called Celebrity and got us an upgrade to a Cat 1 suite from our Cat 2 on Mercury.

I would fight for your original cabin back, unless Celebrity offered you something better like a big upgrade. It was not your fault. You have your booking number right? If you want to stick with your original cabin they should move the interlopers to something else.

A similar thing happened to me last year. I had specifically picked a room on the Starboard side of the ship for our trip around the horn in SA. About 2 weeks before the cruise while checking my documentation on-line, I was horrified to see that my room had been changed by X! The new room was one floor above, on the port side. I immidiately called my TA (she was never notified). X said that they gave me an "upgrade", as they were running a special and overbooked, and that all the rooms on the starboard side were taken. My TA went to bat for me. She was able to get me a real "upgrade" on the starboard side of the ship that I had originally booked. In the end I was very happy, but it took some doing.

Is it maybe possible that the cabin was lost for a reason besides the cruise line goofing? There is more than one party involved, and any one could make a mistake leading to the booking cancelling. Might be something to think about.

Remember, she made the booking for our friends also and their reservation is fine.

I just talked to my TA and she contacted Celebrity again. They said it was a computer error and could not get my old stateroom back...they apologized and booked me in 8118. That stateroom does not suit as it is a connecting stateroom. I just took a look at the availability and saw that 9110 is available and just two doors down from our friends, so I put a hold on it until my TA can grab it tonight.

No upgrade, but at least we have a decent stateroom again (although I would prefer to be toward the front of the bubble.) :)

UPDATE:

My TA contacted me this evening to tell me she was able to book us in 9097, further up from the hump going toward the bow. She saw that stateroom become available today before she saw my email about the other stateroom being held. I will let that one go tomorrow. I am happy now. :)

Be Happy!

Our experience has been that we have been much more concerned about the stateroom & its location before boarding. After we are on board and about to depart on a wonderful cruise the room just doesn't seem to be that important any more.

One thing we did experience and something you seriously wanted to avoid was an adjoining room. On our first cruise on the Summit we had heavy smokers next door and the odor came right through the connecting door. It didn't bother me so much but my wife is extremely sensitive to smoke and it put a real damper on our experience while in the room.

Rest easy and get ready for a great cruise.

I always have the TA provide me with the Celebrity booking number immediately after booking initial reservation. Doing so insures that the

reservation is not just made with the TA, but at the cruise line level so that

the TA doesn't hold the deposits, etc...I tell them I need the booking number to book the cruise critic party and for shore excursions,etc..This way if later for some reason the reservation is canceled- you can "prove" to Celebrity that it was their mistake and demand some type of compensation.

I also agree with the fellow poster about the adjoining cabin. We had a sky suite that adjoined to a 1B. The travelers in this room were heavy smokers-

and it was bothersome. Noise not so much as the smoke-FYI. I prefer the Starboard side, better views for most ports.

We have had our booking numbers and are in the system, so I really don't understand about the computer problem, but all has worked out well enough.

We will not be on the starboard, but I have found that it really doesn't matter which side you are on as long as you are awake before embarking on the port (which I am) and out on the balcony. That's why I prefer the forward section of the ship so that I can see where I am going. Same goes for sailaway. We are either up on deck or on our balcony. The ship usually turns at some point during docking or leaving, so you get your photo moments either way.

I agree about the connecting as we have had problems with both smoking and noise. Celebrity is really big on having connecting staterooms!

Well said! My DH says that to him, this cruise isn't about the ship and stateroom as much as it is about the ports. ;)

I understand what you are going through. I didn't lose my room....the whole reservation was gone!! After a few panic attacks and harried calls to the to the TA, who in turn called X all is resolved.

Turns out X assigned a new booking # to us...go figure..but didn't tell anyone about the changes. Our TA booked through another source to obtain better price etc...other source did not get enough bookings to qualify for the group rate for this sailing therefore the reservation returned back to X, who in turn reassigned a new booking # ....or something like that!

Just glad to be back on board...don't even care where the room is!!

I just spent a frantic night last night , checking rooms like usual and and our room was available! After calling the cruise line (about 11:30pm) The answer was we upgraded you to a suite which was great but we are sailing in 5 days and have all our documents so the guy said he was sending confirmation immediately. That was fine until I got back on line and found the suite they assigned us was also available to purchase! When I called Celebrity back, was told they were closed and leave a message. Finally got ahold of someone this morning and he said we were confirmed for our original room and did'nt know about anything else. Now I'm really scared of NOT having a room when we get to the ship! Really hope it was just a computer glitch! Sounds like it's a common thing for Celebrity. This is our 1st Celebrity cruise but have never had such a problem before on all our other cruises. Sure do understand panic attacks now! I'm still wondering if it's fixed or if something else is going to go wrong

Our first sailing with Celebrity was a dream. If there were any glitches, I was not aware of them. We did not have a computer 3 years ago so I did not have the obsessive impulse to keep checking online like I am doing now.....LOL!!! I just went with blind faith that all was well!! Perhaps my room asssignment changed 5 times before it was finalized. I just would not have known. I think that cabin juggling is done all the time, especially as the cruise gets closer. It certainly makes you nervous when you can't verify the info that you have been given. That I know firsthand!

I'm sure that all will work out for you...maybe you will still get that suite! Good luck!
