Question about Extras

Recommended Posts

I have never cruised RCI but am interested after seeing the Monarch of the Seas in port two days ago. She was beautiful. One thing I can't see to get a handle on is how much are the extras? The Ben & Jerry's? The same as if you were at a normal B & J store? Is this the only ice cream on board? What about Sushi, Pizza? Sushi and most the speciality restaurants were extra on NCL and that was something I didn't like. Thanks!

Ben & Jerrys is about the same price as on land. Pizza is free....there SHOULD be free soft serve frozen yogurt on the ship-most likely near windjammer...

if there is sushi, it's most likely going to be at a station at the buffet and it would be free....(i don't eat it so i don't know)

room service is free except from midnight to 5 AM when there is a 3.95 service fee.......

hope that helps..........others will have more info for you.

Thanks.. I saw that it was served in Jade which sounded like a speciality restaurant. On NCL it was extra - on CCL it is free. Is there a pizza restaurant or Italian - Sorrentos (like the cheese?) that would be free or extra?

Appreciate all the imput!

I don't know if Monarch still has Jade since she moved to the east coast. When Monarch was homeported in California it was the only ship in the fleet that had sushi for purchase (not free) in Jade restaurant. The price was reasonable (by the piece) and I don't know if that has changed since the repositioning. :)

I just notice Jade was listed on the ship's list of things with sushi. And yes I know things aren't really free as we will have paid for the cruise but AGAIN - it's nice to know what I have to pay EXTRA for. :) I understand paying extra for alcohol, sodas, but just have to weigh all the extra costs into the cost of the cruise. Not trying to be tight but it seems silly to choose one ship that goes to the same place as another cruise line that charges more for the cruise and I'll pay for extras.

The extras on board the Navigator were Ben and Jerry's and I do believe they are the same pricing as all their stores on land. The specialty Restaurants are also an additional charge as well as Johnny Rockets. They have free soft serve in the Windjammer Buffet and also have a Sushi Bar each evening in the Windjammer/Jade Buffet on Deck 11. On Deck 5 there is the Promenade Cafe which specializes in free Pizza, cookies, Cheesecake, mini sandwiches, and Seattles Best Coffee 24 hours a day. This ship had several activities free of charge if you are sports oriented i.e., Mini Golf, In Line Skating, Ice Skating, Basketball Court, Rock Climbing Wall, Walking Track on Deck 12 and Ice Show. It has 2 pools on Deck 11 plus an Adult Only Pool in the Solarium also on Deck 11. I know you were looking at Monarch, but if you are interested in the things I mentioned above, The Navigator was a fantastic cruise at a resonable price for 5 days. Would be happy to answer any questions. :):)

Yes the Sushi resturant (jade) is still on Monarch, it is the upper floor of the windjammer and is a chargable option, there is also the buffet Jade in the windjammer where the Asian style food is included.

There is no soft serve ice cream on Monarch, although they do have a free ice cream station in the Windjammer most afternoons

By the way the ice cream is hand dipped and very good. The bad news is that it is very limited as to when you can get it. You will love her, just got off last friday from a B2B 3 day/4 day.
