can someone explain to me

Forget the 1A, those cabins are located on just about any deck. All other categories (4,6,8,A,B,C,D,E,etc), relate to location and cabin type. A cat 4A for example, will be on a lower deck near the bow, or near the aft of the ship. Cat 4 B will be in a slightly more desirable (at least in the opinion of the cruise line) location; 4C, a little better, etc. Cat 4 is an inside, 6 an ocean view, 8 is a cabin with a balcony,etc. That is the gist of it.
