canadarocks Posted April 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2009 I read that you can sometimes see bears at Herring Cove in Ketchikan. Is this true?....... and if it is, where exactly is Herring Cove???
Budget Queen Posted April 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2009 Maybe at dusk or dawn, of which you aren't in port for. This is south of downtown Ketchikan. A tiny little inlet, next to a hatchery- not open to the public. Not a "destination" in my opinion. I've stopped many times, for a look, have only seen a few seals at high tide. jer_l Posted April 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2009 We've driven down to Herring Cove a couple of times when we had rental cars. We didn't see any wildlife other than eagles. but the drive is pleasant and the scenery quite nice. I agree that it's not really a destination, but it is a nice drive getting there.
