simplelife Posted April 17, 2009 #26 Share Posted April 17, 2009 Another thing you can take with you if you don't want to get wet while on an excursion... carry one of those disposable rain ponchos that are found in camping departments in some stores. I buy these at my local "one dollar store" (Dollar Tree, etc). They often come in a pack of two, so at 50 cents apiece, they are truly disposable. And they weigh very little and take up very little space in your luggage. By contast, I have seen these same items for sale in amusement park gift shops for as much as $10.
BroncosFan2010 Posted April 17, 2009 #27 Share Posted April 17, 2009 Rainy days on vactions are why cabins and hotel rooms come with comfy beds and Do Not Disturb signs. I love it!
debnjoe1438 Posted April 17, 2009 #28 Share Posted April 17, 2009 Ask for a FULL REFUND of course, if the cruise line dares to allow rain on your vacation! Oh darn, I should have asked for a refund. I went shopping in the rain on Aruba, and while in Costa Rica it rained ALL DAY. (went on the excursion and shopping anyway)
BroncosFan2010 Posted April 18, 2009 #29 Share Posted April 18, 2009 I have been on two cruises where the captain stated that he changed the cruising course to avoid clouds and a little rain on sea days.
Taxguy77 Posted April 18, 2009 #30 Share Posted April 18, 2009 If it's a sea day there is a lot to do aboard the ship. Relax and enjoy yourself! As for your garage sale......just remember things could be worse. This is what we woke up to this morning. We would have been real happy with some April showers. LOL Pearlbill Good day to eat inside, just BBQ outdoors. PS: Why do they call it SOUTH Cooking Lake? It's in the 60's here on SOUTH Padre Island.:)
Pearlbill Posted April 18, 2009 #31 Share Posted April 18, 2009 It's just not as close to the North Pole as the other side of the lake, I guess! I hope some of your weather is coming our way soon. Pearl
piemom9397 Posted April 18, 2009 #32 Share Posted April 18, 2009 We caught part of Tropical Storm Faye at St. Maarten last year--she hit about 1 1/2 hours before we had to be back on the ship. We had been visiting the shops at the pier & found a wonderful little kiosk that sold local rum liquors, so we drank Guavaberry coladas. It didn't bother us a bit that we were soaked to the bone. The only lousy thing is that my Clarks sandals were a bust and they wouldn't let me dry DH & DS's tennis shoes in the self service dryers, but overall it was no biggie. The ship did cancel 2 of their excusions--the America's Cup challenge thing and horseback riding on the beach. More due to potential lightning. Snorkeling was not as great as the sea was choppier than normal, but, all in all, not prohibitive at all. Relax and enjoy. Have fun!
mactrio Posted April 18, 2009 #33 Share Posted April 18, 2009 It didn't rain on our last cruise; but some of our best Disney World days are when it rains and people leave the parks. We put on our raincoats (if needed) cover the cameras and enjoy nearly empty parks. :) As long as it isn't lightening; rain won't harm you. You might be uncomfortable and wet; but I'd rather be wet & uncomfortable while on vacation than be at home. :D
cruisingigi Posted April 19, 2009 #34 Share Posted April 19, 2009 Sit on your balcony and read! So relaxing...better yet open your door and take a nap..while listening to the rain and the sea.. so calming :p
Rubylightening Posted April 20, 2009 #35 Share Posted April 20, 2009 What was your experience with Carnival Imagination? I have never sailed before, but have a cruise booked on this ship in Nov. Thanks!

slyfox0113 Posted April 20, 2009 #37 Share Posted April 20, 2009 Had a yard sale last week and it rained . . . it wasn't fun, nice, or very profitable. What will I do if it rains on my next cruise? Go to the casino, rent a movie, read a book, go to the lounge, take a nice long nap, play cards, go shopping on the ship, go to lunch, read your Freestyle for activities available. If you are in port grab an umbrella and go for it you may never be there again. Remember you are on vacation to relax and replenish, a rainy day is great for that. S&S Cruisers 1983 Posted April 20, 2009 #38 Share Posted April 20, 2009 Hope for a rainbow! When it rained on our TA, we had a huge rainbow that started way out in the ocean and ended right on the ship. What a sight! I didn't want to run to the cabin to get the camera since I knew it wouldn't last for long. I love the rain!!!
happy cruzer Posted April 20, 2009 #39 Share Posted April 20, 2009 I have been on two cruises where the captain stated that he changed the cruising course to avoid clouds and a little rain on sea days. Yep, many times the captain has avoided a smaller rain shower to keep the ship in the sun on a sea day.
