Land tours in papeete

We will be in Papeete for the 4th time in March. We have done all the snorkeling things and want to do a land tour this next time out.

 

Any recommendations out there for a Tahiti land tour?

We've always gone with Marama in Papeete. They have a nice selection of tours available and they've always been friendly and accomodating with us.

Just about any tour that you take on Tahiti will be about the same - there is the circle island, the blowhole, the Gauguin museum, the botanical garden, the fern grotto, etc. For us, it's the way the folks at Marama treated us on our subsequent visits that made them the tour group we go with. We've never had a bad experience with them

 

Another alternative would be to pick up a private driver at the dock. Just make sure that you agree upon a price prior to leaving or it could be expensive. Also, make sure you know what you do or don't want to do prior to leaving so that you don't waste time visiting sights that don't interest you.

When we were in Tahiti in jan. we did Patricks 4X4 day tour. It was 8:30 to 4:00, and it was too long. Patrick was very knowledgable, but not what we would have wanted to do. It may interest you. Here is his website:

Just finished booking for next month with Marama for the Island tour and 4 different transfers to/from ferry and from PG to Hotel and back to A/P. Michael has been great to email with.

we did patricks 4x4 and loved it. hit some lovely waterfalls and a little place to swim. lovely spots for pics, up to the top for lunch. then there was a big downpour and then we had to race it down before the water rushed over the raodway by the damn( think he plays this up a little for the drama) but it was exilerating!!! then we hit the beaches and of course the blowhole!!

May want to try the Paul Gaughin museum either as an organized tour or on your own if renting car.

We did tour the museum and purchased some very reasonably priced print repros. Nice setting and hisorical interest.
