4kids3dogs2cats&fish Posted June 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 6, 2009 Husband, wife and two teenager kids trying to get one cabin for the four of us where no one has to sleep on a fold-out couch and parents can have more privacy, yet still be with the kids all in one cabin. That would be much nicer than connecting cabins. Can't do it on any RCL ship as of yet. With the new Oasis and it's lavish two story, two bedroom cabins, you would think that this need has finally been addressed. You would be wrong. Just got off the phone with RCL reservations, all possible suites such as the aquatheatre need a minimum of 5 people. So that means that they are forcing someone to sleep on the couch, (or a pullman)? I'm amazed and very disappointed that RCL has come up with this minimum occupancy rule. Typical American nuclear family still does not get its needs met?

arrow3 Posted June 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 6, 2009 I booked a loft suite several times (changing dates, etc.) with 2 people and had no problems at any time. There are no restrictions on the number of people in the loft suites. I doubt they would suit your needs though since they still only have 2 twin beds just like a regular cabin. DEIx15x8 Posted June 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 6, 2009 Four people is something RCCL has never taken care of. We tend to book as soon as the itineraries are announced and get first pick of the ship yet we are still stuck in bad rooms. On our last cruise (Liberty) I was 17 and my sister was 21 at the time along with my parents in one room. We asked for the family ocean view room but were denied because it needed 5 people. We got the room in the front of the ship right next to the fov instead. We had it put in our file that we wanted the bigger room and even called several times but were always denied. On our cruise we found out who got the room, a young couple in their 20s with a 2 year old and infant on their first cruise. Four small young people in a room for five when we were repeatedly denied. Needless to say we complained but they just said the ship was full and nothing could be done, that we had to complain to corporate once we got home. When we got home we called RCCL and complained. They put us on hold and went back to listen to the previous phone calls (yes they really do record them) and when they came back they claimed that on none of the calls anything was ever promised so they would not do anything. We're booked on the Oasis now with only me and my parents and it's amazing how few rooms are able to sleep more than 2 people on this brand new ship. Everyone seems to have money to throw away on multiple rooms. When I price a second inside room over a 3rd and 4th guest it's always equal to anywhere from half to a full 5th guest. Since the problem is sleeping and not space that's not worth it.
RevSmith Posted June 6, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 6, 2009 My suggestion to you is book five people in one of the suites that takes five and then have the fifth person not show up...yes you would lose a little money...but if that's what you really want, that is a way to do it. That is of course if the third, forth and fifth person are discounted, like they are in the smaller cabins. But your right...RCI should address that issue, it was really a hugh oversite...I never realized they had not.

I was just thinking the same thing after my first post! Thank you. Yes, the 3rd, 4th and 5th are all discounted in the aquatheatre suites.
