austin1996 Posted June 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 11, 2009 :)Royal Carribean offers a Glacier Bay Flightseeing in Icy Straight Point for 1 hour 45 min for $310 per person. Has anyone taken this tour? Or have you taken one with an outside company that you can recommend? Thank you
jerry20001 Posted June 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 11, 2009 Weather permitting, it can be an experience of a lifetime. I have flown previously out of Skagway. Spectacular would be one descriptive term. I don't know the operation that RCL uses.
Budget Queen Posted June 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 11, 2009 I have done a lot of flightseeing in Alaska. I wouldn't say Glacier Bay is the "highlight" compared to many many other glacier flightseeing options. Compare going out of Skagway. http://www.skagway.com For me flyovers aren't as exciting as landings. Depends what your interests are.
Yukon Posted June 11, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 11, 2009 I flew out of Skagway with Promech, which is the operator all the ships use. It was exceptional, as you can see at http://www.explorenorth.com/articles/glacier_bay_flight.html :)

Thank you Only you can decide if the flightseeing is worth $310 pp. I don't spend that kind of money for tours anywhere, and I don't think I'd want to be in that small of an aircraft flying over that wilderness. CALL ME CHICKEN! When we flew into Anchorage in our normal sized aircraft, and you look down and see nothing but mountains and white stuff for miles around, my first thought was, I wouldn't want to be lost down there. I'm perfectly content to stay on the ship sailing through Glacier Bay, seeing & hearing the glaciers crack like gunshots, and calve into the bay. That was an awesome enough experience for me.
