ccod Posted June 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2009 Do the outside cabins on deck 8 have any kind of sitting area (small sofa or upholstered chair), and when the 2 beds are joined together does one side almost touch the wall so that someone would have to climb over their partner to get out? I have stayed in the 157 sf deck 9 Superior Ocean View cabins on several occasions, and although they are small the space is very efficient. The 122 sf deck 8 cabins are selling for so much less, I'm thinking of trying one, but I don't know if we would be miserable. It looks so small in the RCI website picture, but the 360 degree view is not working so it's hard to tell much. For reference, when sailing on other RCI ships, we always stay in a standard balcony or occasionally a JS. Trying to save a few dollars here on a 4 day getaway. JJ2sail Posted June 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2009 Yes, when the beds are put together someone has to crawl over the other one. It's very cozy!

Since you have stayed in the SOV, and realize that the OV is 35 square feet smaller, you must realize that there is absolutely no room for a "sitting area" or sofa, or even a chair. There are the two beds, which can be together or separated, and a vanity with a small chair there. There is a tiny table (think mini-coffee-table) and even the TV is mounted up on the wall, in a corner, because of lack of space. They are very cozy, but quite nice for 3 or 4 nights. The Majesty's recent refurbishment is very nice. Don't miss all of the new places to eat on Deck 11 directly above the Windjammer.
bthom70 Posted June 12, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2009 Oct 2008 on the Majesty, we had a deck 5 outside and out beds were pushed together in front of the window. You had to kneel on the bed to look out the window. You also had to climb over the foot of the bed to climb in the bed, there was no room on 1 side and a tiny bit on the other to climb in the bed. cruisegirl1 Posted June 12, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2009 Yes the cabin is SMALL, but really OK for a 3 night sailing. M
firefly333 Posted June 12, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 12, 2009 We had one of the deck 8 cabins on the SOV and thought the window made it seem a little bigger, but yep it was small. The balasters or whatever you call them on the walls take up space and I kept hitting them when I turned over but you can move the bed out from the wall to sleep. cozy is the word. amybeth4 Posted June 13, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 13, 2009 I had an interior, category K, deck 5 on part one of my Majesty B2B, and was alone. The beds were together and three of the four sides were against walls. The fourth side was about two feet from the other wall. The TV was at the top of the wall, in a corner. When I laid down, it was kind of hard to see the TV because it was one of those where if you're not looking straight on, the color was way off and it got fairly dark. I had absolutely NO storage in this cabin. Not even any shelves in the closet, although friends in a regular-sized ocean view who were also on deck 5 DID have shelves. On part 2 of the B2B I shared a Superior Ocean View on deck 9. I was amazed at how much more room this cabin had. But like someone above said, for three or four nights, it's certainly doable.
