NancyNM Posted June 14, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2009 Hi, I'm going on my first solo cruise and I had a question about the bed configuration. If you go for the joined-together queen bed, is there a detectable joint in the middle, that either feels lumpy or otherwise makes it uncomfortable to sleep in the middle of the bed? I have cruised a couple times with a roommate and only done the single beds. Not really sure which way I should ask to have it configured if I'm solo. It's a Deluxe Ocean View w/Balcony on the Radiance, if that matters. From the room layout, it looks like if the beds are split the second one would be right up against the balcony? Thanks for any tips on this. I've already changed my selection back and forth like 3 times on the web site, wondering which is better ;-P Nancy

houlacruiser Posted June 14, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2009 Our friend cruised solo and had the beds together. No issues. I think they put down a mattress pad type thing to help make it smooooth.
moneygirl Posted June 14, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2009 I sailed the Monarch solo in April and had the bed together. Honestly, I couldn't even tell it was two beds. Enjoy the cruise! Angela
SamFritz Posted June 14, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2009 No problem at all. They must use a very heavy mattress cover. The beds and bedding were upgraded on most of the ships within the last few years. I never even noticed that there was a split.

I went to sleep on one side of the bed and woke up in the center. I couldn't tell that the bed was not two beds. No humps or lumps felt. Slept like a baby:o Enjoy:D

gxchan Posted June 14, 2009 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2009 :DWelcome to CC! I'm a long time solo travler and have cruised six times solo and have two more coming up.:D I always have the beds made up into a queen and haven't felt a bump or anything when sailing on RCCL. You may want to check out the solo and single cruiser boards here, they are full of helpful info for solo cruisers and be sure and sign up for your ship's Roll Call. Enjoy your cruise! gatour Posted June 14, 2009 #9 Share Posted June 14, 2009 Worse case after the first night you can request them to be separated.
travelbug11 Posted June 14, 2009 #10 Share Posted June 14, 2009 I always have them together and it's fine. Although, if I have a cabin with just a window and the beds are against the window, I always have them split - makes more room in the cabin.
