ready4traveling Posted June 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2009 Hello, We are heading off on the Pride of America's HI cruise in a month. I have not been successful in finding anyone else on the ship. Anybody out there? Now for my questions: How far is the port in Honolulu from the Airport? Is there a car rental place near the port? Are there any excursions we should not miss? We are thinking of booking our own. Any tour operators we should use of avoid? Any other general suggestions? This is our first NCL cruise. We've been on Disney a few times as well as several Carnival Cruises. Thanks! Hope to hear from someone!:)
Rev. Joe Posted June 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 15, 2009 If I were you, I would check out the Hawaii boards. There, there are tons of threads all about all of your questions. When are you sailing. We are sailing the 25th and love for you to join our roll call. Bon Voyage, and remember whatever you do, your actually in Hawaii :D

That's where the car rental places are. I really don't think there are any by the pier. I don't know what kind of excursions are offered, but I think you could save a lot of kala by renting a car and go holoholo on your own. Just look up some maps and things on the internet, theres tons of stuff available. When you get to the Big Island, you have to go to Volcanoes. That place is awesome - you might even see lava flowing into the ocean up close and personal. Have a great time in Hawaii!:)

ready4traveling Posted June 18, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted June 18, 2009 Thank you everyone for responding. We are on the July 18th cruise. I've got to find the role call for this cruise. I checked a few places, but no luck! We're in our 40's w/ a teen daughter and 2 very active grandmothers! We've been to a couple of the islands of Hawaii, but this cruise is going to be in introduction to Maui and Kauai for us. I can't wait!!! Plans are not made for excursions yet, but I think we will rent a car at a couple of stops. We are pretty active and are looking forward to horseback riding in Kauai and bicycling down a mountain in Maui. I also heard something about sliding down a natural stream on a large tube, but I haven't gotten info on that either. I've got some research to do!
