Excursions for first time cruisers

Recommended Posts

sorry for what seems to be me monopolising topics in here , just excited about my first cruise - out of these places which ones are do-able ourselves and which are best left organised , bare in mind i'm not used to doing my own thing abroad - best i've done is fathomed the Barca subway to the Camp Nou and a tram in Milan to the San Siro

Villefranche - Monaco - do ourselves ??

Livorno - Pisa / Florence - organised trip to either ??

Cittievechia - Rome - organised trip to St Peters and the Vatican

Ajjacio - do our own thing (wedding annieversary this day - does the port have nice restuarants ??)

Palamos - planning to do the organised trip to the Noue camp for my son.

Any help or comments would be appreciated

Thanks :D

Certainly easy to get to Monaco from Villefranche. You can see the station from the ship, just to the right around the bay from where the tender docks. Rome is also easy to diy, but if you haven't been before a tour helps you see a bit more. Also it is very hot and tiring getting round the sites in Rome in the height of summer and a nice air conditioned coach could be very welcome! We just looked round Ajaccio when we called there, Napoleon's house, market, harbour etc. There were some very nice restaurants at the harbour.

We always use the ship's excursions and have not been disappointed yet (apart from the Acropolis this month). We mainly do them as DW feels more secure, unless we are staying in a port and doing our own thing.

We had a lovely ship's excursion last year in Livorno, the Puccini Lake and Pisa. It was a nice relaxing trip and in Puccini's villa met his grandaughter.

We are doing nearly all of these ports next year on our cruise on the Destiny and will look forward to hearing how you got on.

Have a great trip.
