Destiny - Lido Deck?

Recommended Posts

My husband and I will be on the Destiny on June 29th and the Carnival agent suggested the Lido Deck -Level 9 - mid ship. He said that this would be a good location and that we would be close to everything.

It sounds good, but is it true, or would this floor be noisy because it is close to everything?

When we sailed on the Destiny we had a balcony room on the Lido deck. We loved it! It was a perfect location. Noise from the open deck was not a problem, even when we were on the balcony.

That is great to know, because there is so much going on in that area, I thought it might be noisy.

My husband, kids, and I had a Lido Deck cabin on the Victory, which is very similar to the Destiny. We loved the location. It was surprisingly quiet!

Wow, thanks I guess the Carnival agent, was right after all. I see that you have been on the Destiny before, what was your overall opinion?

our first balcony was on the destiny on the lido deck, now we try to get that location on every cruise we take. We loved it.

Thanks, that is something to look forward to. We don't have a balcony (inside room):(. But I am sure eventually a balcony would be great!

Booked a lido deck cabin last cruise but went for the "upsell" to the suite at the last minute. Loved the suite but I still wanted the convenience of the lido deck. So...booked two adjoining balconies on the lido for our August cruise with the kids. Can't wait! Feel even better about it now after reading these posts!

We had a Lido deck balcony when we sailed the Destiny out of San Juan in 2007. It was the first cabin in front of the pool area and we never heard any noise except one night. It was very convenient to everything and we loved it!

We were in Cabin #9121 in Feb. There wasn't noise from people, but it seemed that cabin doors were always slamming shut. Never really heard it that much on any other cruise except this one.

Ther are no cabins mid-ship on the Lido deck they are all forward..... The best thing is the convience to the pool and buffet and no pass-thru people making noises....Dennis

i've heard people report this too. on lido decks, not just destiny. do you think it might have anything to do with the fact that being a deck not the full length of the ship - considerably smaller, actually - let's just say 200 ft vs 700 (destiny's about 900' long) - it was more noticeable because the sound didn't have the same large area in which to dissipate?

Good point. I never thought of it that way.

spa decks too - and they're even smaller (shorter in length), and have foot traffic. that's the explanation i've formulated, it's what makes sense to me. glad to see that might at least be plausible to you? just curious, really ;)
