scotslizzy Posted June 20, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2009 Hi Is it possible to travel by train from Livorno to Lucca. We are cruising on the NOS in Oct and have been to Florence before. Whilst not ruling out Florence I wuld like to consider another option of Lucca. Can this be done and what is the journey time. Thanks Scotslizzy
Mombak Posted June 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2009 Yes, it's possible. Lucca is about 30 minutes from Livorno. You'll have to change trains in Pisa (about 10 minutes from Livorno). A return trip is around €5.
Ship's Wake Posted June 20, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2009 You should have time to visit both Lucca and Pisa before returning to Livorno. Last year on an Oceania cruise, we trained to Lucca, spent 4-5 hours there, then took the train to Pisa. There is a train stop a few blocks from the leaning tower, so we were easily able to stop there as well. It made for an interesting and fun day. For logistics information, check out the Rick Steves guide to Italy. This book has a great section on Lucca and Pisa. Joe
