We will be cruising in Feb out of New Orleans and was wondering if it is cold and we want to sit out on the decks are there blankets that we can bring outside or should I pack that?

Thanks.

There are blankets in your room--don't bring one! You'll find it to be quite windy near the railing, but further toward the center of the ship, you'll be fine. It may be chilly the 1st and last day, but if you're heading south, it will be summery.

More of a coolness by wind versus by temperature. I think in Feb, it will tend to be cooler at night even as you sail south. If you do take a blanket or beach towel, remember it is very windy on deck at night. Hold on super tight to it.

But yea, it is fun to sit out. See the stars, huddle under the blanket, 'face the mighty seas', as it were. Makes you remember you are not in some huge floating Vegas style hotel but rather a very small little dot on a vast sea under an ever expanding sky.

On the ships we have been on if it has gotten very cold they will provide "lap rugs" or woolen blankets for use on the decks. They hand them out just like they do beach towels.

We always cruise in the first couple of weeks in December traveling from Colorado. I remember arriving in Miami and after check-in and getting settled, slipping into shorts and an aloha shirt, headed down to the pool side bar to settle down and relax. The bar tender looked at me like I came from outer space. It had rained earlier and was cloudy. Temp was mid 60's and he was wrapped in a blanket and shivering. I have never had the need for even a sweater on a cruise. Harry
