Hertz FLL to POM Review

I couldn't find much info here, so I'm adding what I found out this past week.

Family of 4 (2ad, 2ch) flew into FLL on Sun. Rented a compact for around $60 taxes/fees included (could have upgraded to minivan for $10) one way to Hertz MIA downtown location. Be sure not to book MIA airport - this is important. Drive took 30-40 mins on a Sun morning w/ no traffic. Downtown location has FREE shuttle to POM. 5 min trip and we were at the port. Driver showed us where to be when we disembarked. Pick up was a breeze. We waited no more than 10 mins for the shuttle back. Got another compact (Chevy Aveo) for $70 this time. It was worth it to have something to explore in and store luggage since we had a late flight back.

Kudos to downtown location for fixing one of my mistakes...I misunderstood the lady at FLL and accepted a charge for a full tank of gas pre-paid. When I got to MIA downtown locale, they changed it to one gallon instead of one tank without my even asking. The only negative I have is that I had reserved a child's seat for both trips, but downtown did not have it available on return. Since DD is about to outgrow them anyway, it was not a big deal for me, but I would double check in advance if this is a concern.

Interesting...I never would have thought to consider Miami downtown!
