We have to cancel our Thursday cruise...

We will not be going on our June 25, Thurs. cruise due to the sudden death of our 34 yr. old dd. A heart attack. She was mentally disabled, but didn't have any known signs of heart disease. We are in disbelief and heartbroken. We do have insurance on the cruise.

Is it better to be a no show or to call before the ship sails? It's not the 1st thing on my mind and it just makes things more sadder then it is, if possible, but it has to be done. This cruise was her vacation and it was all she talked about.

Thanks for your help. I don't want to bring anyone else down. Sorry.....

First off, my sincere condolences for your loss. I can't even begin to imagine what you must be going through.

Since you do have insurance, I would suggest contacting the cruise line and cancelling. You will have less hassle with the insurance claim that way.

I also convey my condolences for the loss of your dd.

Since you did not purchase insurance, I would also recommend the cruise line be contacted before the date of the cruise.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

travelentreats, thanks for the catch.

Yes I now see that you did purchase the insurance. If possible, I would still see if someone can contact the cruise line to advise them of the need to cancel the cruise.

I'm so very sorry for your loss! I worked with mentally disabled people for 30 years; unfortunately heart disease is all-too-common.

Yes, do notify the cruise company and the insurance company right away, to assure that you will be reimbursed. A small comfort, to be sure. :(

I want to offer my condolences also. My husband passed away two days before a cruise last year. We had insurance and the process was very easy to get my money back. I did call the cruise line and let them know what happened.
