Is it to early to book transfers?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

We are new to cruising and have a 12 night Eastern Med/Eygpt cruise booked as our first cruise.

In regards to transfers...Airport to either Rome or Civitvecchia. Then Civitvecchia to Rome then Rome to Airport. Is it too early to start looking and booking transfers? Cruise is 24 April 2010?

Also I have found that Romecabs and Italycabs are good to look into. Any others?

Help is appreciated...thank you:)

Hi Kelly,

Do you have a hotel booked in Rome pre-cruise? I wasn't sure because you mentioned that you needed a ride from the airport to either Rome or Civitavecchia.

If your hotel reservations are made, then I don't think it's too early to book shuttles, but probably not necessary this soon. If it was a full day trip, then I would say go ahead and book asap, but for a shuttle, you could probably wait a bit.

Our hotel in Rome made arrangements for a taxi for us from the airport to hotel. It all went very smoothly and cost for 6 people was 60 euros (DH and I shared with 2 other couples on our cruise who were staying at the same hotel.) To get to Civitavecchia, we took the train, and the other 2 couples did a shuttle which was also arranged by the hotel.

We are on the same ship and believe me, I am finding out, the sooner the better.

Once I have my flight info, I am booking my driver. I have to wait till I have flight info before I can. Now, just gotta wait for those airline fares to keep dropping.

I found out that many things book early. I wanted a certain hotel in the port area and it was booked up already, so I had to go to my second choice and they only had 5 rooms available.

All my other tours are already booked, printed out and also saved in my email. I will reconfirm the closer it gets.

Once you have your airfare......why wait ? As the previous poster said - things book up fast (at least the good ones).

Another vote for Romecabs......we used them 4 times our last trip. Airport to hotel, hotel to ship, ship to hotel and hotel to airport...... very professional and reliable company.
