Questions about smoking on Navigator of the Seas

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone :)

My family has booked a cruise on the Navigator of the Seas for the December 24, 2009 sailing. I have asthma and I am a little concerned about the amount of smoking on board. I called Royal Caribbean and the representative wasn't sure of the names of the lounges/bars andwhether or not they allowed smoking. He told me I could look at the deck plans and see the names of them. The two he mentioned weren't listed, so I am not sure if my list is correct.

I am hoping someone has sailed recently and can help me with my concern. The list of lounges and bars I came up with is:

The Crypt

Boleros lounge

Bull & Bear

Dungeon

Schooner bar

Centrum

Champagne bar

Ixtapa Lounge

Two poets pub

Connoiseur club

Plaza bar

Sky bar

Viking Crown Lounge

Cosmopolitan club

Cloud nine

Seven hearts

Are these bars and is there smoking in all of them?

There are also the pool bars and the outside areas - Is smoking allowed everywhere outside?

Also, the Promenade mentioned it is lined with bars. Will there be smoking there?

I am concerned every bar will be smokey and I won't be able to see any musical entertainment, aside from the shows. :(

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me :)

I hope someone can answer this question for you for the Navigator but on the Explorer the only inside areas you can smoke now is the Golf Bar, the Chamber ( disco) and the Connoiseur Club ( cigar lounge) and in the casino except on formal nights and then the casino is non smoking. As far as I know on all RCCL ships you can still smoke on all balconys and on open starboardside decks and outside pool bars. The problem is the inside areas are not consistent fleetwide as I've read that some other RCCL ships still permit smoking in most inside bars/lounges but that is not the case on the Explorer and no, they will not tell you that if you call RCCL as they do not know what the exact locations are on each ship. The policy should be consistent fleetwide ( and it used to be) so people would know before booking a cruise on a particular ship. As the policy changed 3 times since last year on the Explorer limiting areas each time it's difficult to know when the policy may change on any ship at this point but your best source of current info would be found here on CC from people that sail the Navigator.

Hi, just of NOS (14 June)

The Non smoking bars are:

Plaza,solarium,ixtapa,champagne,cafe promenade & metropolis

As for outside areas, smoking on starboard side only.

The A/C in the smoking bars do a great job cleaning the air.

Enjoy the ship.

Does that mean that smoking is allowed again on the balconies on the Navigator? DH and I have both quit smoking but my brother who is sailing with us in December on the NOTS is a smoker and I want to give hime the correct info.

Hi,

We Smoked on our balcony, just ask the attendant for an ashtray, the only thing they ask is that the balcony door is kept closed.

From the RCI website relating to Onboard Policies:

Effective January 2008, smoking is only permitted in designated areas and outdoors on the Starboard side of the ship (contact the Guest Services for details). Smoking is not permitted in any dining venue, theater, hallway or corridor. Smoking is not permitted inside any stateroom or on Oasis class Boardwalk or Central Park private balconies, however, it is permitted on private ocean view balconies of balcony/suite staterooms. A $250 penalty will be applied to the SeaPass for guests found smoking in staterooms or on the private balconies in Boardwalk and Central Park onboard Oasis class ships. Cigarettes, cigars and pipe tobacco must be properly disposed of and never thrown overboard. A guest must be at least 18 years of age to purchase, possess or use tobacco onboard.

Smoking was never banned from the balconies, it is allowed but you can NOT smoke in your cabin.

Same here - was on Navigator a few months ago. We had a standard ashtray on our balcony, we asked the steward for the heavy metal covered ones to protect against flying ashes, especially because the men were smoking cigars and those sometimes continue to smoulder after you are done with them.

Just back from AOS. Smoking on balconies and starboard side. Casino had 2 no-smoking nights from 7 pm on formal nights. Bar just outside casino allows smoking and the lobby bar allows smoking. Not sure about anything else, since this always gave me somewhere to get my "fix"....
