Which is better Monarch or Majesty?

Looking at going on a 3 day Bahamas cruise end of August for our 10th anniversary. Any thoughts on which ship is better? We are looking at a JS for the balcony. Thanks!!!!!

We have never been on the Monarch, but we love the Majesty and have been aboard 4 times. Every time has been great. Majesty has been refurbished more recently (January, 2007) than Monarch (May, 2003) as well. I am not knocking Monarch; just praising the Majesty. You would have a great time on either ship. Enjoy!

I think the Monarch got a refurb late last year after she moved from LA to PC. She looked pretty good when we sailed her last month.

Haven't been on Majesty but we are going on our 4th Monarch this year over the 4th of July. We love it. Great service and the ship is in really good shape for her age.

I think it really depends on if you are driving/flying. PC is about an hour away from Orl Int'l whereas the port in Miami is closer to the airport.

That being said, PC is one of the easiest ports for embarkation/deembarkation.

We've been on both. The Monarch did not get a refurb when it changed coasts again. We were on the reposition cruise, and they only had 1 week between our arriving in Miami and their first departure from Port Everglades. It did go to drydock, and there were things like carpets fixed, etc.

We were on it again Jan 2. Couldn't really see a whole lot of difference (oh yeah, there's peepholes on the doors now).

As far as our experience goes, the crew on Monarch is our favorite in the fleet. We've always had a great time on the ship.

As far as amenities go, there is a Deli-type place and a Johnny Rockets on Majesty and not on Monarch. If you look at deck plans of the two carefully, you can see the differences.

Some people like Monarch's itinerary better. It is in Nassau on Saturday, and the Majesty is there Sunday, when some places are not open.

I don't know of much difference between the two except Majesty has the Compass Deli (free) and Johnny Rockets ($4.95), whereas Monarch has Jade (a sushi area apparently in the rear of the WJ with not such great sushi).

Much more importantly, and only you can decide this, is Monarch goes out of Port Canaveral while Majesty goes out of Miami. The itineraries are the same, just in reverse...

My friends and I picked Majesty mainly because she was refurbished much more recently. Oh, and we wanted to see Key West, which is on the 4-night itinerary.

Good luck with this one! :)
