dcsam Posted July 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 3, 2009 My brother and I will want to hike up to the top, but my mother will need to take the tram. How much is it, and could she use it more than once during the day? We'll also be back in Juneau a week later. Are the tickets for 1 day only? Thank you Caroline
Rare TiogaCruiser Posted July 3, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 3, 2009 Tickets are good for one day only, as many times up and down as you wish. They will stamp your hand on entering. Cost (if I remember correctly) is $27 pp. If you ONLY want to go down (as in after your hike) it is $5pp or make a purchase for same at the top and get comped for the ride DOWN. We were there one week ago, exactly. The views were fantastic- we had a clear day. Lots of wildflowers out at the top and still some snow on the peaks. Enjoy the trip
PennyAgain Posted July 3, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 3, 2009 There is no advantage to buying your tram tickets in advance or on your boat. Buy them when you can see for yourself what the weather is doing and at the last minute as the weather can change. They don't sell out of tickets. rjm1cc Posted July 4, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 4, 2009 Check with the ticket seller to see if there is snow on the top that would prevent you from getting to the tram. At the beginning of the season it could be a problem.
greydog Posted July 4, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 4, 2009 Check with the ticket seller to see if there is snow on the top that would prevent you from getting to the tram. At the beginning of the season it could be a problem. HIKED up Roberts around May 20. Tram level had warnings that trail had snow/ice and avalanche risk. But FOOLS RUSH IN so it took me an hour from 6th ave trailhead to reach 1800-ft elev. top tram level wearing just trail-running shoes. Last 20-mins hiking there was snow/ice on trail that was a little tricky. Never saw anyone else on trail that day. If you spend over $5 at tram-top gift shop, that receipt counts as one-way down fare. However, there was crowd-rush to board tram down and workers never checked for down-fare (maybe indifferent only when they know no ones hiking up the trail). Good Luck
cruzzers Posted July 4, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 4, 2009 Does anyone know what the actual distance is up the trail? We are in pretty good shape but don't know if we want to wear ourselves out unless the scenery is really great.

Scenery limited to immediate surrounding forest with just couple partial 'lookout' points. I'm sure the top tram-level trails have much better scenic views.
