CSIMelissa Posted July 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 4, 2009 I don't drink beer at all (I prefer wine!), but my brother is going on his first cruise and has asked me about the prices of the buckets of beer on the CCL ships and how many are in them? Are there different sizes? He's not a big drinker but he's wondering if it would be cheaper to do it that way and share it with our father that is going with him. I have no idea what ot tell him so I thought I would ask here!

You do not have to drink them all at the same time and can take the bucket back to the cabin if you don't finish.
posh08 Posted July 4, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 4, 2009 Depending on the brand some are 16oz bottles and some are 12 oz cans. The aluminum 16 oz bottles are not twist off so it is handy to carry a small opener. The ice melts quickly but they will give you more ice. :)

vuildog Posted July 8, 2009 #13 Share Posted July 8, 2009 Just an FYI- Not all Carnival ships sell buckets of beer. On the Triumph last year they did NOT sell buckets of beer. Not sure what other ships don't sell them, but I'm sure someone will know. But on the Paradise, Pride & Victory I was able to get them. Of course this may have changed since my cruises. Hope your brother has a wonderful cruise!

BlueJacketsFan1 Posted July 8, 2009 #15 Share Posted July 8, 2009 Buckets are cheaper but not that much, but at $5.00 a beer now. Every little bit can sure help.
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted July 8, 2009 #16 Share Posted July 8, 2009 4 16oz Bud Light was $19 plus gratuity. It saved $1 on a bucket so it isn't a big money saver but every dollar counts if you are planning to drink 4 anyway.
cruisin'4fun Posted July 8, 2009 #17 Share Posted July 8, 2009 They used to sell "buckets" in the fall which were really collectible football helmets that you could keep. (Back when it was $13/bucket!):p
