UKANGEL Posted July 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2009 Hi We sail on the NCL Jade next month and I believe the day we dock in Livorno is the Bank Holiday (Aug 15th). We were planning to take a train into Florence but will they be affected by the holiday? Does anyone have any experience of this? Thanks for the help:D
BurBunny Posted July 5, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2009 August 15 is a nationwide holiday called Ferragosto or Assumption Day. From my research, it seems it's a traditional day for Italians to head to the beach and other holiday-type activities. Shouldn't affect the trains too much, but you might want to check http://www.trenitalia.it and put in your exact request to see what the schedule is for that day. http://www.raileurope.com also has day-by-day schedules you can search. Check with the sites you're wanting to see. They should be open as a regular Saturday, but best to check in advance.
