cruisinthree Posted July 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2009 Hello! Have a question about military discount. While I nor my husband are military, our son is. He is currently serving in Iraq. Is there any way our son's military connection qualifies us for a discount, and if so, how do I go about applying for it when we book?? Thanks! joepeka Posted July 6, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2009 The military discount only applies if the military member/veteran is actually on the cruise (in the booking). Sorry. BTW, I hope your son stays safe over there, we appreciate his service! :)
valancy1 Posted July 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 6, 2009 Yes... what the others said. Once in awhile (1x or 2x/year) they offer a military sale where you can book an extra room or two in addition to the one the military member is in. If you or your spouse is a veteran, you can also get a military discount with Carnival. There are certain sailings that might not have military discounts OR they don't offer balconies, but will let you get an oceanview, inside cabin, etc. As a veteran myself, I heartily thank your son for his service and helping keep our country safe! cruisinthree Posted July 7, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted July 7, 2009 You guys are wonderful! Thank you for the information, but more importantly, thank you for your kind thoughts about my son! You have no idea how much that means to a military mom! God bless each and every one of our military!

My father was retired military (now deceased), but my mother still has her retired military spouse ID card and we were able to get a military discount on a Carnival ship with a balcony. I got a balcony on our first cruise with a military discount. However, on our November sailing on Inspiration this year, there were no balconies available with a military discount. What I said was SOMETIMES military discount is not available on some sailings OR some types of cabins.

A balcony with a military discount wasn't available when I was checking on pricing on the Pride out of Balmer.
skiorcruise Posted July 7, 2009 #11 Share Posted July 7, 2009 My father & I are both veterans - and have found the military discount to be the best rate avaliable all of the time. My sister and her DH are not vetrans, but we have gotten them the military rate on the friends and family rates several times. OP - thanks to your son and others who serve or have served our country. Socref124 Posted July 7, 2009 #13 Share Posted July 7, 2009 First I want to thank your son for his service to our country. I know how you feel since I have a son who will be starting his second deployment later this month. Carnival offers military family and friends in May and November. This is where the military person, active duty, retired or those that have served for 2 or more years honorably, can get the discount for their own cabin and three other cabins. All you need is to send in your DD214 for those that have served in the past and a copy of your son's military ID since he is active duty. Hope you all get to go on a great cruise. I was fortuinate enough to have my son go with me in May. It was his first cruise and he had a great time. Make sure your son takes his Dress uniform with him on the cruise. My son couldn't believe how many people came up to thank him for his service on formal night when he was wearing his Dress Blue uniform. :) God Bless you and your family.
