brown_eyedgal Posted July 7, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 7, 2009 My next cruise is in November and I know this cruise is the Rick Springfield and Friends cruise (one friend I know of is Richard Marx). We didn't buy the "special" package to include all the concerts and stuff, but my husband and I will be celebrating our 10th anniversary on the cruise. Haven't decided if we want to purchase the renewing your vows package yet. Is there anyone out there that can tell me if it is worth it? And which package did you get? The standard or the one with a cocktail hour and finger foods included? Thanks!!!

papanh Posted July 8, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2009 We celebrated our 40th last year on the Freedom and thought the standard package was enough. The flowers, cake, champagne, glasses and the staff was awesome Pictures below Papanh

TnMama Posted July 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 9, 2009 Our cruise will be our "honeymoon" cruise a little over 3 years after we've been married. We discussed the vow renewal on ship, but honestly couldnt justify the extra 300plus dollars to do it. Im not knocking it by any means. But he and I plan to drive to the East side of Cozumel to find a semi quiet spot, on the beach, and just privately renew our vows to each other. We had the fastest wedding cermony, by the JP, and didnt recite vows to each other, but this time we plan to. Good luck with picking a package, I just had to toss the alternative idea out there.:)

If so the cocktail hour and finger foods might be really nice.

LynneL Posted July 10, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 10, 2009 What is the vow package? 2 different pkgs. for those couples wishing to renew their marriage vows. One cost $385. & includes the captain officiating the renewal of the couples' vows, small wedding cake, long stemmed rose for "bride" & lapel flower for "groom", 8x10 pic, champagne & glasses, etc. The other is $735. is the the same but with open bar for 1 hr. & canapes for a certain # of your guests (I believe $22. for each guest over the stated amt.). To the OP - while I didn't do this on Carnival, my husband & I renewed our vows on the Crown Princess 2 yrs. ago (25th ann.). It was a bit cheaper there - around $225. - similar but wedding no cake & no music as I walked down aisle. It was well worth the money. My husband orig. thought it was a waste of $ but afterwards couldn't stop telling people about how great it was. It takes you back to a point in time of your marriage where sometimes it is easy to forget how it all began. I really think you'll be glad you did this. While $385. is a good chunk of change, my opinion on doing it was compared to all the things we waste money on (my husband drops that in the casino in no time), it is money well spent & will provide you with a nice memory of your anniversary. One thing I would ask though is where the ceremony is performed. Princess had it in a private "chapel" area (a room set up with flowers & chairs covered in white linen for guests). On one Carnival cruise I saw a couple doing pictures with their cake & it was in one of the walk-thru lounges that was just outside the disco, near a wine bar. I would want something more private. I would not go for the higher priced package. Maybe if it were 50 yrs. of marriage - lol - otherwise I found the first pkg. to be just enough. Kudos2Fly Posted July 10, 2009 #11 Share Posted July 10, 2009 It does say that you can do a "private" place on the ship.. I have thought about it with hubby and I... Don't think it will be for our 5 year anniversary but the 10 year sounds nice... Personally I would more likely do it with other family members there. To me that would make it more fun... If it was just husband and I we probably would just do something private... The $385 doesn't seem that bad of a price..
cookc61462 Posted July 10, 2009 #12 Share Posted July 10, 2009 First- congrats! second- lots of good info on the wedding part of this board. Next- we just renewed our vows (30th) in May on Fantasy. We sprung for the more expensive package. It was TERRIFIC! We only had 8 people total and it was WAY too much food, but totally worth it in my opinion. Our renewal was in the library. So it was private. They roped off the area so people could not walk thru that side while our party was going on. After, the photographer took us around and we had pics done. I have pics on my thread in the wedding part of this board. Have a great time!
