Oasis Of the Seas, "OSS" Price Reduction

Recommended Posts

I and my family are booked on two cruises back to back on the OAS for Dec. 19, 2008 and Dec 26, 2008. I booked three (3) balcony cabins on each cruise on Aug. 21, 2008 when RCL opened their reservation for the OOS and was charged top dollars.

Since the economy of the country is in deep "DO DO" and all of the other cruise lines have been discounting their cruises I would like to know if anybody that is booked on the OOS has received a discount when they booked or after they booked their cruise?

I assume you meant Dec 2009. The price will probably stay high until Sep 2010 when it drops by a fair amount. With that said, if the price does drop between now and your scheduled cruises you can request a price reduction or refund. Note however, if you made your reservation thru a travel agent (TA) then they need to contact RCL if there is a price reduction otherwise you can call RCL direct.

I am sure you will have a fabulous cruise. Enjoy!

Good Lord I can't imagine your price dropping at ALL. If anything, it'll go up again. Not only are you going on two of the very first sailings, you're going Xmas week AND New Year's week.

If you want to the price to drop a couple of dollars, go in January. :)

Since opening day booking price it has gone up. If I recall correctly lowest balcony was going for $1699 pp for the inaugural sailing when it opened August 21 and right now it is at $1899. It has come down quite a bit from it's high a couple months ago. Just keep watching as one never knows. Check out RCI website for prices

We're on the Jan 02, 2010 sailing and the price has over doubled. We can't even get a room for 3 anymore. Don't expect a price drop for any sailing in December or January if you booked in the C&A time, If you booked recently possibly but still doubtful.

I check the RCCL site every few hours....I know super compulsive, (but, I have saved on every sailing some by the huge sume of $1000 per sailing). We are booked on the 3/06/10 sailing of the OAS (booked last year on the first day of open bookings available for D+ and C&A members). Paid premium price for a D1. I changed stateroom and location on board the AOS in March 2009 and received a slight decrease (about $50 pp). Last week I checked and price had gone down $100 pp. So total saving so far are $300.00. I will keep checking as the economy is taking a bite out of everything. Eventually RCCL will start to feel it as well with the cost/price difference right now. I booked our summer cruise with Carnival for an aft cabin cat 8A for less than $1600 including tips. Can't beat it and I like Carnival (just not as much as RCCL). So keep checking..........worked for me.

Either way enjoy your cruise wish I could join you, but we are off to Disney with the grandkids.

As a note I always book directly with the cruise lines. Took me quite a few cruises before I realized that I could handle everything myself and the price drops are so much easier to obtain when your reservations are controlled by you. This is not meant to offend anyone in the travel industry. My husbands travels 4-5 days a week (flying to and from home to many parts of the USA) for his job and so we have become experts in what we want and when.

Lets hear it for TA'S (lots of clapping and cheering) our got us a much better deal than just going on the Royal Caribbean site and booking !!!

How does a TA get a better deal? They're not allowed to discount. Is it OBC? I've not found a TA that can do better than the cruise line. I've booked with a TA once because they advertised a $50 on board credit. When the price went down $130 pp on the RCL web site it took me two days to get the TA to call me back. I ended up getting the discount but it was very stressful. I'd rather be in charge of my own reservation. Last cruise I was able to call multiple times to get price reductions. I just don't feel they're worth it for a cruise.

I did use an Alaska TA to plan the land portion pre Radiance a couple of years ago. Saved over $1500 total over the Cruise Tour with RCL and we were able to do suites in the hotels and didn't have to wait for a tour group. But for a cruise alone I just don't see the benefit.

My 2 cents.
